As far as I’m concerned any Moslim that has not stepped forward and condemned the actions of the Moslims that have attacked anywhere in the world is quilty of supporting the terrorists and are my enemy. And so far I have not heard of any Moslim standing up against these barbaric acts. Like the President says if you’re not with us you are against us. If thats the way they want it. Amen

I would only like to plead for humility and compassion as we express our concerns here. Though I agree that everyone has a right to their own opinion, part of that right is the responsibility to communicate such opinions in a way that are constructive and moving the conversation towards respect for one another.

I know as a Christian I am often offended and annoyed by the small minority of toxic people who end up speaking for so many. Example: “christians” who bomb abortion clinics and tell people who support abortion or have had one that they are going to hell. They claim their pro-life positions as if they are the same “gospel” that Jesus called people to when in fact they are diametrically opposed to it! A pro life position would be to support mothers and take them in to help them raise babies instead of condemning them. How about adoption as a pro life response?

My point here is that the radical minority often times ends up speaking for the majority who don’t in fact hold the same views. I know there are thousands of Muslims who are respectable, peace loving people, who do not hold the views or support this radical faction that is destroying the mother religion from which it comes.

Our country is said to be founded by “Christian” morals. The Christian church was an official supporter of the Nazi regime in Germany…are we all Nazi’s then! Of course not. Another case in point where individuals made poor choices and spoke for many who didn’t hold to those positions. For an interesting read on a guy who stood in the face of the Christian response to Nazi germany, look up Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

My hope is that I, we, and Muslims alike, would stand in the face of evil wherever it exists and push back darkness that tries to gain footholds in our world. Even when it exists within the very religion/belief system we hold to in the form of radicals who don’t in fact believe what we believe about God, humanity and the world.

I completely agree with the prof’s comments. What frustrates me more than anything is the fact that all of the countries over there sat on their butt when Saddam first invaded Kuwait.

RiverEyes—thanks for putting this out there. I hadn’t seen it…..I am glad to see someone speaking up. I just wish the prof didn’t have to backpedal. My final thought…..I though that cartoon was very funny. If some group was offended…too bad….get over it or how about trying to clean up their own part of the world. Rioting over a cartoon….give me a break…..I was hoping someone would put it on a t-shirt so I could buy one…..and if someone was offened…..hmmm, two words…..f/u.

You are going to have to clarify that statement. Are you saying that Jesus would not oppose the killing of unborn children. I agree that some pro lifers are zelots but your statement rubs me the wrong way.

I do not think Jesus would be ok with killing unborn children…in fact I think He weeps over it. My point is that it would do a lot more people a lot more good if we could respond in a different way instead of pronouncing judgment on people. Thanks for the clarifying question.

I, also, have not seen or heard much, if any, public denunciation by the moderate Muslim community of the atrocities perpetrated by those practicing Radical Islam! However, the so called Moderate Muslims seem quick to publicly condemn American practices they do not like such as what they perceive as Racial Profiling and the public display of Christian symbols while they demand to be allowed to openly practice their religious beliefs to name a few examples!

My personal feeling is if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is probably not an 86 year old Caucasian grandmother, but that is merely my opinion. I truly believe that most of us have little or no idea how deeply imbedded the insidious Fanatical Islam movement is in American society! Who is going to win the Terrorism versus Toleration struggle? My guess is, unless/until we awaken, it is a forgone conclusion, what is your opinion?

well actually I wasnt going to voice an opinion.. but then… since I posted the above its a pretty good hint what I think… Im NOT totally ignorant of various religions.. I took several theology courses in college … Ive read a number of passages from the koran… and have some understanding of sharia law… even some insight into the differences between shiite and sunni…. its all VERY complex to an outsider…
BUT… heres the problem I have.. I believe in live and let live…. and if its good enough for me.. its good enough for you…. what really chaps my rump is when a group is so SENSTIVE about THEIR beliefs that its a HUGE deal if there is a cartoon that lampoons their belief… and yet they DEMAND sensitivity training for ANOTHER group? so they are too sensitive.. and we not sensitve enough I guess….
hyprocrasy really bugs me… if its fair for the goose its fair for the gander… in ALL cases… tolerance and understanding MUST be a 2 way street….
christians are taught to turn the other cheek (certainly not all do this!).. perhaps Islam is more “eye for an eye” (and again.. not all think that way!)…. but real life situations seem to show this out… before you ask that others take sensitivy training.. perhaps you should look into the mirror and speculate on if YOU need it as well….

If any of you get the chance, check out the movie “Obsession, Radical Islams war against the West”. It’s a movie by Director Wayne Kopping that will challenge the way you look at the world. Almost 70 years ago, Europe found itself at war with one of the most sinister figures in modern history: Adolf Hitler. When the last bullet of World War II was fired, over 50 million people were dead, and countless countries were both physically and economically devastated. Hitler’s bloody struggle sought to forge the world anew, in the crucible of Nazi values. How could such a disaster occur? How could the West have overlooked the evil staring it in the face, for so long, before standing forcefully against it? Today, we find ourselves confronted by a new enemy, also engaged in a violent struggle to transform our world. As we sleep in the comfort of our homes, a new evil rises against us. A new menace is threatening, with all the means at its disposal, to bow Western Civilization under the yoke of its values. That enemy is Radical Islam. Using images from Arab TV, rarely seen in the West, Obsession reveals an ‘insider’s view’ of the hatred the Radicals are teaching, their incitement of global jihad, and their goal of world domination. With the help of experts, including first-hand accounts from a former PLO terrorist, a Nazi youth commander, and the daughter of a martyred guerilla leader, the film shows, clearly, that the threat is real. A peaceful religion is being hijacked by a dangerous foe, who seeks to destroy the shared values we stand for. The world should be very concerned. The Islamists hate everything other than what they are themselves. They killed, for example, over 100,000 Algerians who disagreed with their brand of Islam. These are [their] fellow Muslims. This will really make you wonder who’s side our western media is on!
