I have been looking at the UA Cold gear to stay warm this winter. Has anybody tried it? It is hard to beleive it will keep you warm.

I picked up a set. I did not get cold at all the last 3 weekends, although it really hasn’t been put to a real test yet. I can say it wicks away moisture nice. Got a little hot one morning, on the way in, (slow down Josh) and I was pretty wet after I settled in, it wicked away and left me dry and warm. I did like that feature, over a cheaper set of long under wear, that I got from sportsmans warehouse. Them are plenty warm, but once you sweat, it stays with ya. JMHO.

November 21, 2006 at 1:22 pm #501701Got the coldgear mock and long johns…got some cold weather socks as well…wear them everytime out icefishing, fall trolling, deer hunting…best thing I have found out there.
November 21, 2006 at 2:28 pm #501731I have a few pairs of the heatgear and coldgear. Both products are excellent at wicking away moisture. The coldgear is not as warm as I had hoped, but I will be trying it more this winter. I work up a sweat dragging my ice house out in the morning, and it is hard to warm up after that.
November 21, 2006 at 3:40 pm #501762I have UA tops and bottoms of cold gear….I love it!!!
great at wicking the moisture away from your body.
I would recommend it.
JBNovember 21, 2006 at 3:59 pm #501769The only draw back I have is it is not very flatering, at least not on my body It does not make me look anything like the pictures.
November 21, 2006 at 4:16 pm #501778Diddo on the not very flattering. Best warm clothing gear I’ve ever bought. In fact, buying second set now since my boys seem to want to wear it when I take them hunting which leaves without. Works great at hockey games too!!!!!
November 21, 2006 at 5:47 pm #501821Yep same here GOOD STUFF. I however decided on a 3XL for my top on the cold gear. Still fits me a little snug. Keeps you dry when active and then sitting. Great for Pheasant Hunting, Deer Hunting, Ice Fishing and Snowmobiling.
I hAve some heat gear also. Good Stuff.
November 21, 2006 at 7:04 pm #501849Is it better than the regular Cabelas Thermax undies and stuff like that? Thermax is pretty good at wicking and warm also, just wondering if the Under Armour is worth the extra price from those who have worn both.
November 21, 2006 at 7:13 pm #501854For years I have been buying Lands End’s silk longies. Extremely low bulk factor, and very VERY warm! Plus they feel prett sweet next to the skin.
November 21, 2006 at 7:32 pm #501864Just me on this one.
I thought the stuff was damn expensive.
And my three pairs of regular long johns..do just as good for me.
I do not like the tight feeling of the stuff.
I think for the price I can do better.
Just my two cents.
I gave my outfit to Mike.November 21, 2006 at 9:33 pm #501909I will not look like the ad in them either. I will probably go with 2-3x. Do they shrink at all??
November 22, 2006 at 12:39 am #502012I’ve got a set and really like them. Have worked very well in all the conditions I’ve tested them out in. Unlike the rest of you though, I make the manikins blush. Like I tell my wife, “I’m so hot”. It really makes the gas tank look purdy!
November 22, 2006 at 1:27 am #502031I also favor the silk. I have tried my new system this year and its working so far.
Cabelas Silk for the first layer.- Extremely comfortable like Tuck mentioned.
Cabelas Thermo-Stat Union Suit for second layer
Cabelas Insulated Guidewear or the Vexilar Cold Snap Suit- Both suits have kept me warm. Guidewear almost too warm. The Vex Cold Snap suit will be perfect for the sunny warmer winter days.November 22, 2006 at 2:08 am #501990Here is the link to the stuff I buy. Quite a bit cheaper I imagine than the UA. (The UA is probably more robust for the long haul, but this is awful hard to beat! )My sister keeps me stocked up as she works there.
Oh, and BTW, I will look like the manequin if it has a beer gut and a visible coin slot in the back.
