    Guys/Gals,
I could use your help. I currently have a nice setup for walleye fishing with all of the goodies, but I also do some walleye fishing is some of Iowa’s smaller southern lakes which are really flooded timbers that play hell on props, paintjobs, etc. So, I am in the market for a ‘beater’ if you will. I have the opportunity to buy a 1983 PolarCraft Flatbottom w/ coast gaurd front end, 1984 35 HP Johnson (which is very clean, but old) and trailer. The boat comes w/ 3 nice seats, anchors, oars, lifejackets, fire extinguisher and an old hummingbird fish finder. The trailer and boat lights all work. It is in good shape considering the age. What would this be worth? I’m buying it from an older couple who simply don’t fish anymore. I don’t want to take advantage of them, but I also don’t want to overpay. Your thougths would be appreciated.

    Rookie,

Go to nada.com. You can search the value of boats and motors back to 1970.

I would say that any boat that is in good condition, motor works well, and trailer that hasn’t been beat to snot is worth 1500.00. Especially when they include everything you need along with it. This is just a guess. Its hard to put a price on something without seeing it.

Is it welded or riveted? I found a few jons on ebay last night that might help you price it. Edge water marine in Des Moines has a few used boats for sale also.
Depending on the condition of the motor it should be worth $500 to $1000. 14′ to 16′ jon should be around $500 riveted. Maybe $800 to 1000.00 welded. I just bought my year old 16′ polar kraft for $1750. Good used trailer $200 to $400. Poor used trailer (homemade) Maybe a $100 if it works.
Having all the extras with it is a big plus. They can get very expensive and time comsuming to add on your self.
These prices are just my opinion and are based on having been shopping for a jon boat for the last few months. They are not set in stone. Hope this helps you out a little.

Hey. Whats up with the NADA? I checked out a 15 HP evinrude I have and they said it is worth $150.00. The motor is a 83 short shaft tiller with rope start. They are nuts. Maybe that is loan value.

I think that Sednerb is about right on. I would have put it in the 11-1300 or so range, depening on how bad I wanted it, and how bad they wanted to get rid of it.
