Forum up-grade and integration…

Well, we’re back on-line and everything seems to be working for the most part. I have a significant amount of massaging to do yet but for the most part, we’re operational. What we have now is two forums running off of one database. This is allowing us to retain the “feel” of independent river and lake specific sites yet share some information between the two forums. Before we had two user accounts, two sets of log-ins… information needed to be manually copied from one site to the other if there was a chance that the info might be of interest to visitors on both sites. With the way we’re set up now, the Community Forums are “shared” between the two sites. What is posted on FTR in one of the community forums is visible on FTL. And vice versa of course. This should improve our exchange of information and allow us to involve a greater number of people in our discussions…. without sacrificing the “river or lake specific” feel we’ve enjoyed on FTR and FTL.

Kick the tires and play. Hopefully we won’t have too many bugs, but I’m sure there will be a few so don’t hesitate to point them out to me so I can address them. Lots more positive change coming in the very short term for all to enjoy on both the forums!

I’m with Jack, went to do a PM and found my address book empty. Any chance of getting it back or do we need to recompile a new one? NICE look and feel with the new format..glad you’re back.

James, I like the new look……..big step in the right direction!

One question is that it looks like we lost the FTL March forum info? You pull it up and it shows Febuary dates?

    Thanks,

It looks great, thanks for the time and hard work. Same question as the other guys had, what about my address book and PM I had?

There’s some clean up to do yet. The PM’s and address books didn’t “travel” well but we’ll take another stab at getting them back where they belong later today. There’s the photo uploads to iron out and some other details yet but we’ll get it yet…

    Thanks for the patience everyone.

Thanks Fleck… You know, you should try to put that to music. It’s pretty catchy.

And I need to add a new defualt style sheet for the FTL forum… the un-read posts are black for pete’s sake!

We’re still working on the attachment issue. I’ll post an announcement when it’s functional. There’s a new twist to the system too.

No worries. Just LOTS AND LOTS of ground to cover.

By the way, Tom, send your user pic to Koonce to get her fixed up. Can’t have any red X’s ya’ know!

Buzzer- You can change the font size. Go to my home and then display preferances. There you can make some changes and submit it and see what you like. Some pretty wild colors in there too.

Once I get some of this behind us I’ll upload a bunch of different style sheets that will give users a good cross-section of looks to choose from. Most don’t know that they can control the look of the forums, the font size… most everything with this forum.

    OH WOW,

i just messed around with some of those color changes. some of the combonations you can change it to really hurt your eyes (try out wild). i can’t believe some one could actually read anything with some of the stuff you can do to it.

i’d have to say i like all the defult stuff just fine .

just another suggestion. i noticed that pretty much every ones just a “member” now. i liked it before when you got a more distingushable (is that a word??) tile. maybe your changing that, too. i just think those 2 or 3 or 4 guys with 1000+ post should get some kind of special recogniztion. i’m glad i’m no longer a newbie though.

yeah… some of them are just nasty. Black and Blue? Who in the heck?!

Anyay, I’ll upload a bunch more in time and let everyone know they’re there. It is fun to play. Did yo uguys know you can switch your language too? this thing will translate into an unbelieveable number of languages. Pretty impressive and mind-boggling to be honest.

If you remember, I was the guy bitchin’ about the user list and how it was set up. Under the new and improved user list we have the alphabet at the top and can go right to the section we want. I am a happy man. happy happy happy

I remember! In fact, I’ve never forgiven you for those harsh and critical comments.

Yeah right! Glad you like. Much more user friendly than that crappy “guesstimate” method employed before.
