You forgot Lake Pepin. [unless Mississippi means river] I know its part of the river but Nate is fishing the RCL Walleye Leaque Tournament there that weekend so I’ll be watching the weigh ins but do hope to sneak over to a Fairbault Lake for some lake opener fishing too. Thanks, Bill

I noticed on the way to work today on a vehicle in front of me (The Land of 10,000 lakes). I missed more than Pepin Bill.
Good Luck to Nate in the tournament. Let him know the Sheetrockin he did turned out great and the cabin is in its finishing stages. Tell him to be sure and stop in and see the finished product next time he is in the area. He must be pretty busy with his new venture as I haven’t seen a post from him in a long time.

Hey Doug, Nate did get out Thursday afternoon on the river on pool 4 as he had to wait for everything to dry before he could do anything more, and theres some posts on the FTR message board. He has been working hard at building up his business and has some new contractors now that are keeping him swamped in work. He and Jessie left tonight for Cabelas as they are staying at the motel behind Cabellas as it has a water park too. Starting Sunday he will be working day and night for 2 weeks to get a huge house done thats being built on a new golf course in Byron Mn. Take care. Thanks, Bill

    Hey Dman,

In my 45 years of fishing openers, I have tried them all. Vermilion has been the most consistent by far. It’s going to close this year for the iceout on he Big V, still 4ft of ice to go!

All of you guys have it made! Not only is it Mothers Day, but my wife’s birthday is May 12th. I’m screwed! Although last year my neighbor came over and asked me to go fishing with him on mothers day. I was about to put my tail between my legs and say no, but my wife spoke up and said go ahead. Hmmm, maybe if I give him $20, he’ll do that again this year.

You can always pick a close by lake and fish the opener and still be at home on Sunday for the wifes birthday and Mothers Day. The best way is to get your wife hooked on fishing so she might want to go with you. Thanks, Bill

    Thanks Bill,

The Windmill Marina on the St Croix is 9 tenths of a mile away. She loves fishing, but likes the sun even more. It’s too cold in May for her to hop in the boat, although it did happen once! She’s a middle of the day, June and July fisherperson. Maybe electric socks? (attachment)

Maybe you should invest in one of those multi-purpose Sportman’s heaters everyone’s been talking about? Might come in handy for when the temps dip below 80 degrees!

Is anyone pulling any crappie from under the Vermilion ice. If so where?

If there’s a conflict – have your own Mother’s Day the week before! That’s what I’m doin’, and me & my son will be out for 3 days!
