I am pretty new here but I think it would be pretty fun to get together this summer. We could maybe go to a lake with a few different species and maybe rent a campground or sumthing. I know a perfect spot too. Island Lake in St. Louis county in Minnesota. It would be perfect. You can rent out a huge campground on the lake with a bunch of docks and a boat landing. It is really good for Walleyes, Northern, and Small Mouth. It would be real cool to have like a three way contest. Everyone throw in 5 or 10 bucks. Then split up the prize for biggest fish in each catagory. we could probally fish from like 9 am to 4 pm. Then give out the awards and have a bbq afterwords.

Sounds fun to me. I’m always up for a road trip and some fishing. I may be up that way a few times this summer. I want to hit High Banks on Fish Lake, Island lake dam (can you still get down and fish off the spillway)The Falls Island Lake.? Wolf, Elliot, Murphy, and Boulder. It would also be fun to take a charter out on Lake Superior. Have you ever fished the cracks when the lake is breaking up. Its’s kind of neat. You walk out and jig fish between the ice chunks, the wind blows a little and closes up some cracks and opens new ones. I don’t even know if they still do that up there. I’m getting to old for that though. Can’t run for shore like I used to. LOL Steve

If you can make it south of the Cities, there’s about a 50/50 that I could make it too, otherwise it’s just too far for an Iowan to hitchhike in a weekend.

Yeah it would be so much fun. We have to get the word out to a bunch of people. I am thinking 5 or ten bucks to get in the we take the money we need to pay the camp ground or sumthing then we split the rest of the money for prizes.

What days would be best for everyone? I am going to give United Northern Sportsman a call somtime and ask. Hopefully it wont cost to much to rent it out. I am thinking we should have like two to a boat maybe this way everyone wont have to bring theirs. Well again reply if your interested and leave a date that is best.

I have a free weekend in December, hopefully the lakes are still open. I know most of the guys here that guide full time don’t have much free time including myself, but it sounds like a great idea and I wish I could make whatever comes together, but unless its after Deer season, I won’t be able to make it.
