Wondering which you would rather do. Hunt deer during the gun opener or fish during the fishing opener.

I have never made a fishing opener but have never missed any hunting opener…….

Just interested in seeing if there is a more dominant group on this website

Had to say Deer Opener, even tho I have not been out for a couple of years.
I really avoid the fishing opener, With all the Pool 4 fishing SO CLOSE by, all early to mid-Spring fishing there, I feel like I do NOT have a closed fishing season.

I love the anticipation of both! But the Hunting opener is one you do not want to miss, shorter time and people are filled with anticipation not having gone for a year! With that being said I have to work this opener For Mn, but I will be ready for the wis_on_in opener

Since I’m now “retired” from Deer Hunting I’d have to vote for fishing!

Hunting opener is such a greater anticipation then fishing opener. I dont even look foward to the actual hunting part its more getting together with everyone that you havent seen from last deer camp and enjoying their company. this year we will have 5 generations at deer camp, for some it might be their last time at camp, so im really going to enjoy the moment

Of the 3 options you gave the only one I knew anything about was “fishing opener”..
So my answer was of course the fishing opener but what are the other 2 things about ??

I live on the river. We fish all year long so I have got to say deer opener.

Deer opener. It is a family ritual that my father got me into 22 years ago.

My deer hunting with my father I consider extremely special. It is a bonding time. When I was younger, my years hunting with my father was a time for him to have one-on-one time with me, teaching me how to be a better person.

Now that I’m older, I get to hear the “good stuff” that my father did as a kid and we share good laughs.

Fishing can happen anytime….Deer hunting is only 1 week a year.

This will be the first year that my father cannot shoot a gun due to a pace maker installed. At 82 years old, he is as tough as nails and will “tag along”. So, with any luck, “we” can shoot a big buck this year!

I get excited for both, they both include time off work, which is great !!! I would have to say though, the Deer openers, meaning Bow, Rifle and MuzzleLoader !!!
