The man who would have been President, John Kerry, basically has stated in a speech that the people who have served in Iraq are uneducated losers. Way to thank them for their service ketchup boy!

Actually, that would be a good reason not to vote for John Kerry, but really has no bearing on any other DEM candidate.

Basically he said what I said he said. He was giving a speech yesterday and was talking about the importance of education. And he stated that if you did not get an education you would end up in Iraq. Google it and you’ll find the story. Sorry my computor skills and dial-up service don’t allow me the time to package stuff for people.

Wow, can’t this guy just go away. I would be seriously pi$$ed if my son or daughter was called out like that.

Who does he think gave him the right to talk like that, the American Servicemen and Women

I disagree. George Bush is never running for anything again; but he seems to be very central to this midterm election. John Kerry is a major player for the Democrats. He shapes a lot of legislation that comes out of the Senate. Potentially a Democrat controlled senate.

    HOLY CRAP!!!!!!

Jon J, is that the “quote”?????

The military is all about education and supports educating the soldiers without end and with a vast aray of angles to get a full education (I’m talking Bachelor degrees!!!!!!!!)

Also, going into the military (full time) is a GREAT way to get this education paid for in FULL!!!!!!!! It is an option for many, from people looking for their GED to medical doctors getting financial assistance for their education cost. YES, MEDICAL DOCTORS!!!!!!! Airline pilots too!

    How sad and disapointing.

Not necessarily true. You could always end up as the president too.

I wish I was as uneducated as Bush. An MBA from Harvard is said to be helpful in the business world. Also, Bush pulled better grades than Kerry did at Yale.

They both did poorly in college. They had a one point difference between their cumulative GPA’s, which was in the mid 70% range.

    THAT IS A C.

    AVERAGE.

Are you satisfied having a person who only did average in college as your president? I’m not. I want someone smarter than average, and I had NO choices in 2004.

Average at Yale that is. Less than 1% of applicants even get in.

There is a good chance your Dr finished in the bottom 1/2 of his class. But he can still find your prostate, can’t he?

Lot of truth to that statement Dave.

None of us know how well our doctors, attorneys, and the CEO’s of the companies we work for did.

That applies to all political parties.

Politics….. Hmmmm, I wonder who is a better fisherman, Kerry or Bush. Perhaps that should be part of the criteria to determine if a candidate is good enough or not. Two men, face off on Mille Lacs. One day, heaviest bag wins, not the presidency of course, but maybe a little respect. Kerry is moron, Bush is a moron. Both of them say some real dumb things. So do I, so do you, why do we insist on chasing our tails with this BS.

Last I checked this wasn’t a political site.

I could have been just about any of the liberal democrats who said this seeing how they are pretty much anti-military. Kerry, Pelosi, Harkin, Dean, Clinton, it doesn’t matter. They will all tell you that they support our troops but in reality they see our troops as second class citizens. It is almost the typical democratic class envy thing except instead of rich and poor they are pitting educated youth against those who have volunteered to serve in our military. The older I get the more I loathe liberals and their socialist adgenda.

Ive not see any one party disparage our military people.. to do so is worse than merely stupid…. but for sure Ive heard things said by CANDIDATES of both parties that make me cross that candidate off my list of people to vote for…. of course it gets harder when because they are both so bad you cross them BOTH off… then what? all too often it feels like your picking the difference between tweedle-dee and tweedle-DUMB… you all to often when the candidates are dumb and dumber you have to settle for simply dumb…. dont know why that is…. I spose its something to do with the media scrutiny.. like someone else above said… who doesnt say something dumb from time to time… me.. I make a habit of it….
I remember every mistake Ive ever made.. and can repeat each one perfectly…. yep.. thats me….

Kerry’s comment was nothing more than a stupid comment from someone who has become insignificant. Remember, this is the same guy who lost the presidential race to a [censored].
With that being said, the military is being gutted. Our troops have been back and forth to Iraq 4+ times and they are wearing thin. The army is taking almost anyone at this point. They have increased the age limit, criminal records are fine, no high schoold degree….something needs to change over there and someone, Democrat or Republican needs to get the troops home or atleast a plan that leads in that direction. Our governement owes AT LEAST that much to them.

RiverEyes, I think you answered your own question. I too often find myself discounting the 1st 2 partys, then vote for the third. Alot of people say it is wasting a vote. To me, wasting a vote, is the vote that is uncast. I am now crossing off John Kerry, as my vote for Mass…

He has little to do with the candidates here, other than party affiliation. If we are to condemn the party, for ones acts, then Clinton did that already, as did the republican with the pages scandal recently.

    Kerry is one candidate.

Vida, what is the source of your information regarding military recruitment. The last I heard they are still meeting their goals and turning people away.

The military is very reluctant to put multi million dollar machinery in the hands of uneducated people.

    Hi Dave.

I’ve come across a few articles. Here’s one. I’ll track down a few others.

The army still claims that the HS diploma is a must but the testing requirments have been lowered. Whichever, it’s not the direction we want our military to be heading

    Vida;
You are correct with your statement.

But there is a little more to the story.

In the early 90s, the military was being downsized. With that in place, test score requirements were raised, soldiers who received a DUI or gross misdemeanors were automatically discharged. It was done to “raise” the bar to downsize.

The military will do what is needed/required to keep our forces strong.

Do note, that there is no other military as powerful as the USA’s!

Nobody wants to see our troops come home more than I do but we all knew going into this that it wasn’t going to be a quick in and out sort of thing. The war on terror, no matter what country it is being fought in, is going to be a long fight and we were all told that heading in. I grew up during the Vietnam war. It was nothing to come home every evening and hear about hundreds of U.S. casualties that day. I’m certainly not trying to make light of the casualties we have taken in this war but it is nothing in comparison to the troops we lost in Vietnam. Any life lost in war is one too many. We have to stay the course on this people. The terrorists and insurgents are all counting on the U.S. cutting and running. It would be a major victory for the bad guys should we leave before the job is done. Plus you may have noticed that since 9/11 there has not been another attack on U.S. soil.
