I’m looking to purchase one for both winter and summer use, looking for what are pros and cons of the different brands.

Marcum VS 560 = The absolute best. Autopan for ice fishing is the best feature on any underwater camera unit out there.

What Crosby and MJ speak is true. MarCum’s 560 is THE top of the line. It offers a 360 degree viewing area. Rotation of the camera is controlled by keypad or choice of three different auto pan speeds. A wireless remote controls camera rotation, auto pan speeds, and lighting. It also has on screen displays for reporting depth, direction, water temperature, and battery status. The lighting system uses what they call “Darkwater Technology” eliminating the majority of particle reflection so that”snowstorm” effect is minimized. The quality of the actual camera itself is much above the competition’s utilizing Sony’s camera’s giving a 90 degree field of view in one camera position.

I agree with Matt- last year I was given a chance to try both the MarCum and Aqua View on Upper Red where the water is only about 16′ deep, but not always clear because of all the mirco’s floating around and very light covered silt bottom about 2-3 inches deep; the Aqua view lasted a week before one of the 4 lenses, then 2 lenses fogged up and quit because of water leakage (I heard they have corrected the problem?) any way the rest of the lenses went in the next week- the maximum we could see was 6-8 feet on a good day, great lighting but the alge spots hurt your eyes while watching, The great thing about it was with 4 site lenses you never had to turn it–The MarCum 560 was great, auto turn, remote hand held or on base control is the top of the line along with the auto turn, as far as seeing on Red with it our distance was in the same as Aqua View but with very few dots of white, the clearness was great on both as for the lenses- no matter which one you used the fish, gators, eyes, crappie, perch all came right up to each without spooking them, we found both to be hard on battery use so we hooked them to a 12 volt battery with alligator clips and extra wire then they would last for days of usage before a recharge, I would strongly recomend a sun or light screen for both to keep the sunlight or light from the ice house down for easier viewing, there hoods dont really do the job–hope this helps
