I love that show. I think all kids should have to watch it in school. What a living that man created for himself.

I think its one of the best shows on tv. By far the best reality show. I have every episode recorded on my DVR. The shows you see now are last years shows. I know they have recorded a new season, but they have been having so much sucess with the first season that they are having trouble finding time to finish up the new season.

That show is so good…. It shows how if you simply don’t panic in these type of seroius situations, that you could easily survive for at least a week.

Make sure you guys catch the behind the scenes episode. You’ll probably appreciate what he does even more.

This guy who is kinda like the croc hunter in a way, goes to remote locations across the world and spends 7 days with nothing but the item he came in on. Example, last night he rode into the Antartic on a snowmobile. He then takes the snowmobile and rips it appart and uses the parts to survive. He then has a desination he needs to get to with in the 7 days. Last night he took a nap on the ice and woke up with Polar Bear tracks about 50 feet away from where he was sleeping. Its a good educational show and he teaches some very good survival tatics. I believe its on the Discovery channel.

Here is the official site for the show. Survivorman

It airs on The Science Channel and The Oudoor Life Network.

Check out the ‘Episodes’ tab on top…pretty cool.

The true “reality TV” part of it is that he does all of the taping himself. There is no camera crew or producers behind the scenes handing him water or cooking him steaks after the cameras stop rolling. As far as I can tell, he is off in no-mans land all by himself. Pretty cool. Great show, the few that I’ve seen.

Yea, he was lugging around 4-5 camera cases in the show last night. He cut up some wires and used part of the snowmobile seat to make a pair of sunglasses. They were goofy as hell looking.

No Costa Del Mars but they worked..

The show is pretty good and interesting to watch. I don’t consider him one of the better outdoorsmen around however. He has made a few errors that could have cost him his life. One that stands out is when he is the woods out in Colorado or Washington. He had made a shelter lean-to during the day. Middle of the night he hears what he thinks is a bear and takes off running through the woods like a scared rabbit.

The better option in my opinion would be to stay near the fire and have the hot end of a long stick ready or a have a tree nearby scoped out and ready to climb up. Anything other than running through woods blind. Could have broke a leg then you’d just be bait ready to kill and eat.

I just remember sitting there thinking. Man, that’s stupid!

There was another one where he is dropped off on a little patch a land way back in a swamp. He manages to catch a turtle and it’s the only food he has had in a few days. He had been complaining how weak he was feeling. He says on camera he will regret killing the turtle and turns the camera away. Next shot he is filming himself cooking the turtle. However, he only has the feet cut off and roasting them on a stick. Man, what a waste of a turtle. He only got 15-20% of the meat off the thing and he is starving. Rookie!

When he ate the lilly pads and puked, that was a classic.

Three or four days in the woods by yourself, no food, minimal water. I think a guy looses a little common sense in that situation.

The way this guy conducts himself for the show sort of reminds me of the way Timothy Treadwell did his documentaries in the Alaskan wilderness. Timothy “loved the bears like they were his brothers and sisters” while he lived with them. He got a little too comfortable with his ‘abilities’ with the animals. He and his girlfriend were eventually killed and partially eaten by a brown bear. THAT guy WAS crazy…you’ll see what I mean if you ever rent the movie Grizzly Man. Woulda hated to be the park ranger that was on duty that day.

He made some mistakes last night. He was using a knife to cut into a coconut and was cutting into himself and not away from himself. I thought how reckless. Then he tried cutting a water vine in half while in the jungle and the blade went into his finger down to the bone.
