    Hey ya All!!!
I have a Giant bee hive on th eside of my lean-to! I would like to take it down this winter and put it in my house, but I’m not sure how to get the bee’s out of there and how to remove the hive without wrecking it. They built it into the trusses of the lean-to! Any suggestion would be great! Thanks

Have Brian K come over, and take it to his house for a few weeks. Once you are sure the bees are gone, take it back home to your house.
Just a public service message from IDA.

BTW, let me know when he is coming over. I will have the popcorn and lawn chair ready.

If you don’t use my brian K idea, wait until dark…take a five gallon bucket and carefully cut it down. Put it into the bucket. Take a number of paper towels soaked in ammonia, and put them in the bucket also. Cover and let it sit for a couple of days.

PS I think the last suggestion from Tuck is mixed up with his wine making recipe.

If you wait until it turns cold, the bees will either leave or die off. I have two hives in my house, both made in the branches of bushes. It may be difficult to get it out of the rafters without it falling apart. When the bees are gone, try using a sharp knife or razor knife to cut it free. Good luck.
