Anybody in the South Saint Paul area yesterday afternoon? I could see the smoke from the fire in Bloomington around 2:30 pm. Watched the smoke/fire for a few minutes from the Bailey/Highway 61 exit. I have never seen so much black smoke from a fire. Glad to hear nobody was hurt.

I heard on the radio yesterday that it was a Epoxy Plant, but that is unconfirmed.

I did not hear if the FFs were able to save anything or if it was a complete loss. Anybody got some extra information?

    Ewe…big fire!

I wanted to make a comment that it was too bad it wasn’t a golf tee manufacturing plant…but that wouldn’t be appropriate here.

Epoxical makes epoxies and resins and stuff, so this building was crammed full of nasty flamable chemicals. My wife was driving into the parking lot where she works TWO BUILDINGS AWAY when she saw the roof blow off and the flames jump up. She made the first 911 call reporting the fire. The flames were shooting up 50 feet above the roof of the building. The smoke was so thick that the weather guy on Channel 5 was tracking it with their radar!

But here’s the best part: Everybody got out OK . All of the employees, the firefighters, the policemen, everyone was OK. When you saw how big that fire was you’d never believe it didn’t kill anybody. Truly a miracle!
