This coming winter I will be removing all of the stantions from the barn so that I can build horse stalls. Does anyone have any idea where I can take these to get rid of them? I believe that they are made out of Iron,

Sell it as scrap steel. Old barn stanchions have little value as not many people use them anymore. I cleaned out my Dads barn, and he tried to find someone to buy them, only to haul them to the scrap yard.

You got your work cut outfor you, its a lot of work

But who do I sell it to? I know that there is a place in hutchinson, which will be close, but from what I have heard they are not really to concerned about what they do to your trailer when they are taking the stuff off. Anyone know where a good place is to take this stuff?

Is the scrap-metal place on Concord St. in South St. Paul still open? They used to take aluminum and I beleive iron.

    FishinBuddy,

Any scrap yard will take the metals. You may get better pricing from one scrap yard as opposed to the next, but if you factor in your time and gas, bring it to whereever is close.

When you get there, they will normally take it off the trailer for you with a large magnet, but I prefer to off load it by hand because they can do a bunch of damage to your truck/trailer. It takes a little more time and effort, but your stuff is a little nicer in the end.

Good luck. It is a great job to be done with.
