Tonite I chose to jet up the river vs. sitting in the bow stand, tough choice!!! I probably don’t need to tell you other smallie fanatics but the smallies are absolutey in overdrive. I took the advice from one of the last reports from Steve DeZurik and picked up some minnows after work today. They only had fatheads but boy did they work. 25-30 fish with 7 over 18″, 19.5″ being biggest in just over 2 hours. Get out there!!! Hopefully Mr. big didn’t walk past the stand tonight. (Remember catch and release only) Good luck ! You probably won’t need it though!

That sounds like a blast. Way too many choices in October between hunting and fishing.

    Nice fish Randy.
Such a great time of year. I gave up hunting about 13 years ago. Each time I was hunting this time of year I was wishing I was out in the boat fishing!

Sounds like you had a great day! Congrats!

coppertop, I will agree with you…I stuck with a 3″ tube and a 4″ power worm on Monday evening and got 7 in about an hour just south of Monticello, not nearly the size that you found (biggest was 16″)…I will be heading out again this evening for a hour or two…I will let you know how it goes…

I was out on pool 7 on Tuesday and the smallies were on fire there also I was swimming a orange jig tipped with a full crawler. my cousins were pullin green cranks. Pulled in numbers but not a whole lot of size.

I feel that minnows are cheating but
today I’m going to be a cheater.
    Sounds like too much fun.

I could not agree more with you Serpent!
But after what I have seen this past 2 weeks up here, It is the best thing I have going right now BAR NONE!
Yesterday I had to resort to mostly sucker minnows. The smallies would hit the red tails chubs like no tomrorow but would be real finicky with the slow moving sucker minnows that I had. Amazing how picky these fish can be. Kind of a weird non-typical past couple weeks for me so far. I have not had to resort to minnows for many years…. until now
