Ok, you guys did it. Caused me to look at new ice tents. You’re right, The Otters win hands down. I bought the small one and I like it a lot. My question is: Do I need a tag or a license for this shelter when I am using it on MN waters? How about boundary waters? If so, do I get it where I bought my fishing license? I could try to find my rule book but this is easier.

You do and you can get them pretty much anywhere you can obtain a fishing or hunting license.

Have fun and catch many fish in the new shack.

    Shelter permit runs $12.00

Hey Woolybugger Ithink that the permit is 34.00 which seems way high to me.

A resident fish house license is $11.50. A non-resident license is $33.00 for a season or $17.00 for a 7 day. Licenses expire 2-28. To be legal the law states that all fish houses must have either the complete name and address or the driver’s license # of the owner in 2″ letters. What I did was to use a black marker and put my driver’s license # on a 8″x10″ piece of paper and than I had it laminated. Then I stuck the license on it. 100% legal. It fits perfect in the plastic sleve area that Otters have.

A fish house license is not needed on border waters with IA, WI, or SD.

Thanks for the info. 34 bucks just to be able to sit in my tent. I don’t mind buying the out of state license for fishing but that seems a little nuts.

What I did was write my name and stuff right on the canvas and then tagged the zipper like you do a deer.
Don’t have to worry about looseing the darn thing that way.
    Happy fishing
