Personally I wouldn’t trust the ice that much. Heard too many reports of people falling through and now with the warm weather that could really weeken the ice.

I agree……………too unpredictable! If you know a body of water well, maybe it reduces the risk level but too often we aren’t as knowledged as we need to be and whoops! Another incident! I still think we’re good for ATV’s overall but caution is a must in all regards!

Is that BAD…YES it is because it shuts down the bite!!!!!

The warm temps. shouldn’t effect the ice much at all. There are some lakes with 12 inches of good ice….some have more some have less. Most of the lakes have areas that the ice thickness varies. Last night I fished on 12 inches of good ice and 40 yards away there was open water between a pressure ridge.

The wind is more of an enemy than daytime high temps as it’s still below freezing at night. The ice will hold up as long as it doesn’t get blown open by the wind.

As for driving on French…..12 inches is what I like to have to drive on…..15 inches is more comforting. Keep in mind that just because there’s 12 to 15 inches on the mid section of the lake…there will be areas of 4 to 5 inches on the west side.

The main problems with driving on the ice now will be pressure ridges, cracks, or heaves. TGIF
