Leaders on a tip-up

    I went fishing on Wednesday. I got two northerns on tip-ups. But two northerns that i felt bit the line off. Will it affect the action of the shiner or will it turn fish off. Or should i leave it and get lucky on a huge fish?

    You will have better luck on bite offs if you go to a heavy mono for a leader, say 20lb XT. We have used this on Mille Lacs for tip ups before.

    I like to run a leader of 20 – 30 lb fireline for a leader on my tip-ups. You can still get a bite off, but rarely.
