I get yellowing or hard water stains on my fiberglass boat after just one trip on the water. Has to be hard water because the only thing that takes it off is a lime away product. Has this happened to anyone else and what do i do to stop it. I have waxed the sides and hull afterwords but it returns and I have did nothing at all after removing it for it to come rite back. Any super products out there or a company that knows of this situation.

    thanks

Let me get this right it comes right back without going back in the water? I use a product called hull cleaner available at sporting goods stores or wal-mart works very well.

What type of boat glass or aluminnum? I’ve heard good thigns about his product, haven’t used it myself. http://www.thecleanway.com/direct/marine/

There is also some stuff on the marker called bass boat saver, suppose to clean and protect glass boats, gotta order it online, just haven’t got around to it.

gs, You absolutley need to try this product Star-Brite instant hull cleaner. Prior to owning a aluminum boat I had a fiberglass boat with a white bottom. I do 99% of my boating on the upper Mississippi. After a few trips my hull looked like it was soaked in black coffee for a year, not just scum but terrible stains, you could scrub and scrub with no success. The Star-Brite instant hull cleaner works almost too good to be true, wet rag with it wipe a little and rinse done deal like new. I used to get it at Fleet Farm. Good luck

    My boat is yellowing too!

Seriously though, in the past I have had glass boats with white hulls and I found that once they start to yellow it was very difficult for me to return it to its original color. Let us know if these cleaners work. That would be good to know…

I’ve always used CLR or Lime-Away.

Is CLR or Lime away ok for gel coats?

Does a white glass boat yellow because of sunlight?

CLR and lime away are ok for gel coats. I used them on my Ranger and Champion. It does the work much quicker and easier than those so called boat specific products.
