Howdy Gimpy ! For a dropper line off the braded, I use a barrel swivel then attach 10lb Berkley Vanish. This way the line doesn’t twist up and there isn’t a unnatural vertical line where the fish can see. Rermember, let the fish run, then stop and turn the bait in it’s mouth, then set the hook ! This way the hook should be in the corner of it’s mouth and the line should be away from it’s sharp gill plates and teeth. This has worked most of the time in the past, but some fish just can’t be caught no matter how much terminal tackle you have on ! Just my way of doing what I like best !

    More Ideas anybody ???????

    Keep a tight line !!!

    Gimpy,

I run my tipups the same way Richard does, but I use 6lb mono for the leader because I’m always targeting eyes. I’ve lost some pike because of this. I like to use both banana jigs and gem n eye jigs on my tip ups. Of course a plain hook will out fish any jig some days. If you use the gem n eye’s, make sure to bend the gap on the hook open slightly for better hook sets.
