Watch where your feet are when you’re moving your boat.

I was lining up my boat/trailer to my truck hitch. Before I had it lined up on the ball, my trailer jack failed or was not latched properly and swung up. The tongue of my trailer SLAMMED on top of my foot. I woke up every neighbor on the block with a creative string of swearing; if the guiness people were there i’d have a record for sure.

Fortunately, three things saved my .

    1. Got the meaty part of my foot, not my toes.
    2. The spare adsorbed some of the shock.
    3. It was a a fifteen foot bayliner, not a bigger boat.

Anyways, I give it a 50/50 on any broken bones. I’m probably gonna get it checked out in the next few days if the swelling doesn’t go down. My foot is so swelled, I had to remove the laces in my left shoe to get it on. The worst part though, is that it skinned the top of my foot.

    Anyways, be careful.

    SON OF A NUTCRACKER!!

    AFLAAAAACK!

Appreciate the tip and another good reason to keep the kids away from the boat in the garage.

Take it easy and I hope nothings broke!

Similar deal happened to me. I had backed one of the trailer tires up against a rock without realizing it. When I lifted the tongue up, it shot forward and pinned my hand against the tailgate of the truck. Creative swearing indeed, not to mention what it cost to get the dent in the truck fixed. Now I make sure I have the wheels chocked from the other direction if I unhook the trailer on rough ground.

My buddy did this same thing with his 21′ Triton. He said the only thing that saved his foot was that the trailer bounced. I guess his whole body turned white as a ghost.

from experance don’t wait too long. a bone infetion (sp)can
result, and you can lose your leg from the knee down.
a prosetic leg is better than nothing, but it still sucks

Ahhh Yes! The trailer stories, I had the hitch resting on the ball and was adjusting the clamping thing inside the hitch, when it decided to roll onto the ball pinning one of my fingers in the process, I was screaming so loud to “crank it up, crank it up” to my 12 y/o son that he decided that he would get on the bumper and start jumping up and down, cause he has seen me do this before When he finally got the thing cranked up my finger throbbed so hard, I couldn’t hold the steering wheel for two days. I guess it’s like anything, once it happens, it will never happen again, we learn like dogs.

If you take ibaprophen/advil the swelling will go down I usually take 4 per what my doc told me. I’m kinda accident prone aka at the wrong place at the wrong time. you better get an x-ray you would hate to have to have it re broken by the doc.

That hurts just to read it. I would have it looked at by a doc. Hope every thing turns out ok.
