I fished Prior Lake both Saturday and Sunday this past weekend. If you want constant action and don’t mind sorting to get some eater sunnies, this is the place to be. The magic depth for me was 15 feet. The hot lure was a Genz pounder in pink and white colors. I caught one bass that was in the two pound range, what a blast on the new St. Croix 24″ UL. A gentleman beside me landed about a 4lb bass later in the day. That was quite the battle on 4lb mono, both bass are still swimming to surprise another angler. I couldn’t stay for the prime time crappie bite either day, but as the sun got lower, the crappies were there.

One word of caution, the ice is only 3 inches thick on Prior. I saw two guys on a 3-wheeler on Saturday buzzing all around. I personally thought they were crazy. Suzuki and I were able to punch holes with the spud bar, with little effort. Good luck and stay safe!!
