We hit the lake at 7:30 AM last year and fished until about 4:00 PM.
Last year Hawger had a flag up I think.

The best place to access the lake is still off Sunset Point. Once you are on Hwy 8 og south at the Dairy Queen. Go past the school and take a left at the Whispering Bay sign. At the “T” take another left and that road will take you right onto the lake. I’ll have the Sportsman and the Otter ready to go.

I’ll be there by 9am. If the fish bite like they did Sun everybody should catch fish. I was going to make it a guarantee, but the wife wouldn’t let me. Lots of faith there!!
There was at least 12″ anywhere I checked with much more in most places. Vehicles were driving all over, but I’ll stick to the ATV.

Make sure to have a mix of crappie minnows and waxies/eurolarvae for the panfish, suckers for the pike and fatheads for the eyes. I can hardly wait!!

Cool Chris! Glad you two can come.

Mike, I am leaving Owatonna about 7am…. We’ll see you on the access or on the ice.

Can you post the location where I should set up base camp on the ice…. (right over the “honey hole” would be great…. your general discription out from the access… have a GPS waypoint? And a exact how to get to the access via street route. Parking? Look for my red 1995 GMC Safari Van (ton of stickers on rear window) pulling a trailer / 4 wheeler & two Otters.

Buns are being picked up by “Dinosaur”, Chili is a done deal, Steve Greene is bringing onions, mustard, etc… We’ll make coffee on the ice. I’ll keep it hot in my “Multi Heater”.

I’ll be up there this afternoon (brrr). I will make sure to pay attenetion to the road signs and will post the exact directions later tonite.

Hawger-If you want to set up in a crappie spot go left once on the lake to the deep hole. If you want gills go right. Either way its a short walk and there is plenty of parking on the ice. There are people driving all over the lake, but I’ll be using the Polaris. I’ll call you tom.

Ok guys, and gals. Here are the best directions I can come up with.

I’ll be starting at the intersection of 35E and 35W.
    Go 4.5 miles north
Take exit 132 which is Hwy 8 east (right)
Go 11.9 miles east to Hwy 25 south in Lindstrom (right), which is also Olinda Tr and has Dairy Qeen at the corner
Go 1.7 miles south to Glader Blvd east (left), there will be a sign for Whispering Bay
Go .7 miles east to Olympic Tr north (right), it will be a stop sign and a “T”
Go .7 miles north and you will be on the lake

This is the easiest access for any car or truck.

You can also get on the lake by going 1.3 miles east of the DQ on Hwy 8. Take a right on Grand Ave and you will be able to drive on the lake there as well. It is a little steeper and can sometimes cause problems for 2 wheel drive vehicles or trailers.

I’ll try to attach a may of South Center from thr MN DNR website with some key landmarks noted.

Frankies is in Chisago. They are on the north side of Hwy 8 at the stop light. Don’t be TOOOO tempted to hook up to a Ranger while you are there.
