Us packer fans remember 96 quite well The Packers have won the division 5 times since 96 Vikes 2, Vikings fans should never bring up the past, you cant rewrite what happened, you have a chance in the present and future but please dont bring up the past because us packer fans are more than happy to talk about the past (except for the 80’s) Oh yeah the Bears have a Lombardi trophy also, but only 1

Just like a packer fan everything is in the past!
I get a kick out of all this bickering back and forth Truly I could really care less the only team in any sport I cannot stand is the $&@^*&! Yankees

The Bears scored 21 points in that game so how do you figure they shut them down???? The shins have looked bad this season and the panthers havent looked that good either only beating the kitties by 3. Roll on BEARS
Uh, when did the Panthers play the Lions? The Lions played the Seahawks in week one, and lost by three. Incidentally, the Seahawks offense looked terrible after losing their best offensive lineman in the off-season to Minnesota… The Bears have so far proven nothing except that they can beat up on bad teams. That is a mark of respectability, not greatness.
September 20, 2006 at 1:54 pm #480651Sorry I realized what I typed after I posted. But Im still not worried about the Queens!!! Go BEARS!!!
September 20, 2006 at 5:10 pm #480771Baisically the packers suck big time and brett farv will have to get back on the morphine big time to even make it halfway through the season. I’m sick of all the stupid announcers sticking up for him just because they like him. It’s now pretty apparent that he is the most washed up player in the NFL, and has been for the past several years. Man I’m glad the vikings play the packers twice this year. Now I know we’ll finish the season with at least four wins!
September 20, 2006 at 5:17 pm #480774Here is my take on the game from a Vikes fan. The bears have a great defense, and their offense (Grossman especially) went out and WON their games definitively. They took it to their opponents on both sides of the ball.
The Vikes really have not proven to me anyway that their offense is all that potent. They were losing the game BTW when the “Gift” was given to them by Gamble in the Carolina game. No one from the Vikes is separating themselves from the crowd. Until they do, Da Bears are going to be the Norris Division team to beat.
It is fun to watch a team like the Bears who are young, and on the rise. We will see some new names in their WR corps this year that we have never heard of. Thomas Jones seems to be the real deal, and if Grossman stays healthy and accurate, he should be a force and not a farce.September 20, 2006 at 8:37 pm #480874well put, tuck
the bears have a lot of young players that are fun to watch. a lot rides on grossman staying healthy.
by the way, i wasnt trying to ‘stick it’ to vikings and packers fans earlier, just a little euphoric over the bears’ start.September 20, 2006 at 9:24 pm #480896very well put tuck. I know the bears have only won ONE superbowl and the packers have won alot but how about the queens NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 20, 2006 at 10:21 pm #480918All this talk reminds me of this spring when all the talk was about how the Twins did not have enough offense to challenge in the division and nothing was going to stop the Chi Sox from repeating as champions.
How are the Sox playoff hopes looking right now???????GO VIKES!!!!!!

Yeah, the same number as IOWA’s PRO TEAM!
September 21, 2006 at 12:42 am #480501The only thing I hate more than the White Sox is hemerhoids….
The only thing worse than hemerhoids is people from a state with NO pro sports hammering on OUR pro sports in Minnesota

Nobody disputes the Pack’s illustrious history, but it is just that, HISTORY! That was Then, This is Now!
September 22, 2006 at 1:23 am #481448Iowa doesn’t need any pro team because everyone from Iowa schools end up in the pro’s. Parkersburg Iowa has more players in the nfl per capita in a town than any other town in the US. There are 3 or 4 from there. Not to bad for little ol iowa and the town might have 1000 people in it if you are lucky. Lets not get started on Minnesota gopher football.

How many of those “per capital” football players from Parkersburg are playing their pro ball in Iowa?
I’ve lived in exile in Iowa City (home of the University of Iowa) for six years now, and I’ll take Minnesota’s NFL team over the Schmawkeyes in particular and college ball in general any time. We Minnesotans (I was born and raised in the Land of 10,000 Lakes )can live with our sub-par football Gophers because we have big-time pro sports. In this town, the Schmawkeyes are EVERYTHING, because without the University Iowa City would be Wabasha. If the Gophers packed up and left the Cities, we would still have the Vikings and Twins.
And if you think the college game is better than the NFL, ask yourself who would win between the BCS champion and the dregs of the NFL, i.e. the Packers…no one with a lick of sense would bet on last season’s Texas squad against Green Bay. The quality of play and talent is so much better in the NFL that there is no comparison.

Not that I want to pull a “history lesson” ala all the Pack faithful, but how many national championships has Iowa or Iowa state won???? Check the Minnesota Gopher Football history, and check back with us.
September 22, 2006 at 1:48 pm #481580boy are we all full of quote this and quote that there you go talking about history again the past is the past. I don’t really care if Iowa doesn’t have any pro teams we have no room in the state for them because we have to feed the US with food that we produce off of the land that is why we are a agricultural state. We wouldn’t want any show boats like randy moss anyway he probably wouldn’t make it to long down here.
Anyway i got the bear by at least 14 this weekend if not more.
September 22, 2006 at 2:35 pm #481604I hear ya Sandbar. How did a Vikings fans thread get turned into my state is better than your state.
September 22, 2006 at 2:44 pm #481605Yah, and my dad is tougher than your dad.
Back to football, the Vikes are going to put a pounding on those Bears this weekend. Grossman will be exposed and pounded into the metrodome turf.

Kind of like Benny Sapp and Pierre Pierce? Pierce was released from Mt. Pleasant Correctional Facility this week, where he served three years for sexual assualt. Iowa BB coach Steve Alford was just rewarded with a contract extension. Alford defended Pierce and succeeded in gaining him an extra year of eligibilty after Pierce was accused (with pretty convincing evidence) of raping a female basketball player. Nope, nothing but the finest moral character at Iowa.
Vikings by six this Sunday. Grossman has not faced a decent defense yet this year.
