Iowa doesn’t need any pro team because everyone from Iowa schools end up in the pro’s. Parkersburg Iowa has more players in the nfl per capita in a town than any other town in the US. There are 3 or 4 from there. Not to bad for little ol iowa and the town might have 1000 people in it if you are lucky. Lets not get started on Minnesota gopher football.
How many of those “per capital” football players from Parkersburg are playing their pro ball in Iowa?
I’ve lived in exile in Iowa City (home of the University of Iowa) for six years now, and I’ll take Minnesota’s NFL team over the Schmawkeyes in particular and college ball in general any time. We Minnesotans (I was born and raised in the Land of 10,000 Lakes
)can live with our sub-par football Gophers because we have big-time pro sports. In this town, the Schmawkeyes are EVERYTHING, because without the University Iowa City would be Wabasha. If the Gophers packed up and left the Cities, we would still have the Vikings and Twins.
And if you think the college game is better than the NFL, ask yourself who would win between the BCS champion and the dregs of the NFL, i.e. the Packers…no one with a lick of sense would bet on last season’s Texas squad against Green Bay. The quality of play and talent is so much better in the NFL that there is no comparison.
