to all of you!!!!!!
Why is diesel so expensive yet???? Its the bottom of the barrel sludge….cmon!!!!!
September 8, 2006 at 1:47 pm #476512I submit it would come down even further if demand is reduced. My solution, deport all illegal immigrants!

Ive heard that diesel is high now because they are trying to keep regular gas down but yeah it doesnt make much sense when diesel is a bi-product from making gas
September 8, 2006 at 3:19 pm #476558It finally is down to $2.45 in Lincoln this morning!!! My boat has room for 50 gallons or so. I think I’ll top it off now before any hurricanes come.
September 8, 2006 at 4:07 pm #476576One reason diesel is high is due to a new additive that will be required by October something-like the 20th. It has caused big shortages is some parts of the country, western plains states, because they can’t produce the additive fast enough. Diesel supply low due to additve requirements=diesel price high. Got to just love the government for goofing something else up.
Gas $2.32 here in Waterloo.
September 8, 2006 at 4:13 pm #476580What sucks the most is that anything that increased due to high gas prices, will probably remain at that price.
September 8, 2006 at 4:22 pm #476581I can see truck prices going in the opposite direction real soon.

September 8, 2006 at 4:46 pm #476594Yep, my wife is trying to sell her used truck, won’t be a easy sale i’m sure. They will be discounting New trucks, zero interest anything they can to get inventory off their lots!

Doesn’t it suck that $2.35 seems cheap?
YES. This is called ‘conditioning’. That’s what the gov’t is doing to us. They’ve had it up so high for so long, that now when they drop the price (and they can whenever they want), they condition us to think this is great, and that’s what we get used to. Just look out next summer….because of this, I’m positive that they’ll jack the prices up even further then.
September 8, 2006 at 6:41 pm #476650Panhandle of nebraska is still 2.69-280 about everywhere .The company I work for does alot of fuel deliveries and part of the diesel problem is supply.Several refineries have been down lately out this way and there are actual shortages on supply. The funny part of it all is that at lake mac fuel was cheaper than in Ogallala.
September 8, 2006 at 7:16 pm #476665Gas in Dubuque is supposedly the cheapest in Iowa (according to the local paper) but I’m not buying it. Dubuque has a reputation of being one of the highest for gas prices in the state. In any case I have read that gas could be down the the $2 a gallon range by the end of the year. Hopefully natural gas will come down as well.

September 8, 2006 at 7:18 pm #476667Well since everyone is submitting Gas Prices, its $2.43 in Winona and I filled the truck up last night when it was $2.49. I knew I should have waited.

Here we go again.
The infamous “They.” You say it is the “Government” that raises and lowers the prices. Who are “They” and when was the last time you heard “The Government is lowering or raising gas prices?” Since when is OPEC part of our government? Since when are the future’s markets run by the government? When did the Government get into the refining business?
The “Government” is only involved in the taxation portion of gasoline. Most of those taxes are user fees used to improve our roadways and other programs releated to it. The “Government” can approve to tap into our emergency reserves, but there has been no reason to do so. And doing so would not reduce the price you pay at the pump.
Write your congressman and ask him to lower gas prices some more, and let us know what he tells you.September 8, 2006 at 8:17 pm #476684It’s the conservatives fault. They want to make $ by high pump prices.
It’s the liberals fault. Damn tree huggers won’t let us build new refineries.
Its the terrorists fault for causing so much instability.
Hurricanes are to blame for wiping out the gulf coast oil production too.
But wait, it’s a vast multi national global conspiracy orchestrated by Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney.
And some think high gas prices are a sign of a healthy economy.
Personally, I blame Aliens and Ralph Nader.
$1.59 a gallon is not a right. If you want to spend less on fuel, then decrease your consumption.
September 8, 2006 at 8:54 pm #476699Chris, not touching this one !!!
BTW, I never blamed it on politicians, I know its not their doings….

All that and not a mention of George Bush, that is just not right
How about SUV’s, Global Warming, BrianK, Destruction of Rainforests, eating meat, smallpox, black plauge, AIDS, Pollution, Light rail, Forest fires in California, chronic masterbation, Commercial Fishing, Tree huggers, Downfall of western civilization, bass fisherman, Clinton, Television, overbrowsing of deer, baiting beer, hunting fox over hounds, Developers destroying wetlands, homosexuality, Loggers, Farmers, lawyers, overcrowded classrooms, and unfaithful wives.
I think that about covers it.
September 8, 2006 at 9:59 pm #476714Personally I think it is all John Travolta’s fault. Ever since the movie Grease, gas prices have been on the rise. If they wouldnt have used so much oil in the actors hair there would be more for gas. I also bet its a little know fact that Elvis, yes the king himself – is an offshore oil executive, that is why he is never seen anymore. And since he is an executive of amoco,(otherwise known as alvis motor oil company since southerners have that drawl)its no wonder the profits were so high. He does have a new record coming out though, its titled…”You aint nothin but an oil well”
Now, isnt it stupid all the BS that flies concerning gas prices?

This is hilarious to me. It makes as much sense as some of the other stuff I’ve read here lately… lol
