Hey, that’s a handy gadget. Strikemaster’s had a similar one out for a few years, I think. But if you’ve got to drop some water on the ice to get a reading, the only advantage this has over the Vex is it’s a little easier to use and it fits in a coat pocket. That’d be worth $100 or whatever if I had it to spare, but I figure the old FL8-SLT will have to keep doing its duty. Frankly, I thought I’d died and gone to heaven the first time I slopped water on the ice, laid the iceducer in the puddle and got a reading without having to uncork the drill.
When is winter coming? I’m ready to fire up the strikemaster and drill a hole in the basement.
