I am not sure if this is all 100% acurate as I didn;t have time to snopes it but the sources are there.

How do you think that this is going to affect our grand children in years to come?

    From the L.A Times:

    1. 40% of all workers in L.A. County (L.A. County
has 10 million people) are working for cash and not
paying taxes. This was because they are predominantly
illegal immigrants, working without a green card.

    2. 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are
    for illegal aliens.

    3. 75% of people on the most wanted list in Los
    Angeles are illegal aliens.

    4. Over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County
are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal, whose
births were paid for by taxpayers.

    5. Nearly 25% of all inmates in California
detention centers are Mexican nationals here
    illegally.

    6. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles
    County are living in garages.

    7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los
Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of
    the border.

    8. Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties
    are illegal.

    9. 21 radio stations in L.A. are Spanish
    speaking.

    10. In L.A. County 5.1 million people speak
English. 3.9 million speak Spanish (10.2 million
    people in L.A.County).

(All the above from the Los Angeles Times)

Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our
crops, but 29% are on welfare.

Over 70% of the United States’ annual population
growth (and over 90% of California, Florida, and New
    York) results from immigration.
The cost of immigration to the American taxpayer
in 1997 was, (after subtracting taxes immigrants pay),
a NET $70 BILLION a year, [Professor Donald Huddle,
Rice University]. The lifetime fiscal impact (taxes
paid minus services used) for the average adult
Mexican immigrant is a NEGATIVE number.

29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal
    aliens.

If they can come to this country to raise Hell and
demonstration by the thousands, Why can’t they take
charge over the corruption in their own country?

We are a bunch of fools for letting this continue.

THE U.S. VS MEXICO: On February 15, 1998, the
U.S. and Mexican soccer teams met at the Los Angeles
Coliseum. The crowd was overwhelmingly pro-Mexican
even though most lived in this country. They booed
during the National Anthem and U.S. flags were held
upside down. As the match progressed, supporters of
the U.S. team were insulted, pelted with projectiles,
punched and spat upon. Beer and trash were thrown at
the U.S. players before and after the match. The
coach of the U.S. team, Steve Sampson said, “This was
the most painful experience I have ever had in this
    profession.”

Did you know that immigrants from Mexico and other
non-European countries can come to this country and
get preferences in jobs, education, and government
contracts? It’s called affirmative action or racial
privilege. The Emperor of Japan or the President of
Mexico could migrate here and immediately be eligible
for special rights unavailable for Americans of
    European descent.

Corporate America has signed on to the idea that
minorities and third world immigrants should get
special, privileged status. Some examples are Exxon,
Texaco, Merrill Lynch, Boeing, Paine Weber, Starbucks
    and many more.

DID YOU KNOW?: That Mexico regularly intercedes
on the side of the defense in criminal cases involving
Mexican nationals? Did you know that Mexico has NEVER
extradited a Mexican national accused of murder in the
U.S. in spite of agreements to do so? According to
the L.A. Times, Orange County, California is home to
275 gangs with 17,000 members; 98% of which are
Mexican and Asian. How’s your county doing?

According to a New York Times article dated May
19, 1994, 20 years after the great influx of legal
immigrants from Southeast Asia, 30% are still on
welfare compared to 8% of households nationwide. A
Wall Street Journal editorial dated December 5, 1994
quotes law enforcement officials as stating that Asian
mobsters are the “greatest criminal challenge the
country faces.” Not bad for a group that is still
    under 5% of the population.

Is education important to you? Here are the words
of a teacher who spent over 20 years in the Los
Angeles School system. “Imagine teachers in classes
containing 30-40 students of widely varying attention
spans and motivation, many of whom aren’t fluent in
English. Educators seek learning materials likely to
reach the majority of students and that means fewer
words and math problems and more pictures and
    multicultural references.”

WHEN I WAS YOUNG: I remember hearing about the
immigrants that came through Ellis Island. They
wanted to learn English. They wanted to breathe free.
They wanted to become Americans. Now, far too many
immigrants come here with demands. They demand to be
taught in their own language. They demand special
    privileges–affirmative action. They demand ethnic
    studies that glorify their culture.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?: Send copies of this letter to
at least two other people, 100 would be even better.
Help us get the word out.

Fish heres something too, I was working nights a couple months ago to beat the heat we were having and had a radio station tuned in. On this program was the head cheese of the minuteman organisation. I’ve never heard one of these guys speak and up until that point i thought they were a very very right wing org. or an extreemist organisation but when i heard him talk it sounded like he had all his facts in a row. First off im not trying to stir the pot as all legal aliens that come here deserve to work. He said its gotten so bad in california and thier having major problems in florida and texas too as along with all the border states that the mayor of los angeles, which is also of mexican decent, has evidently told the police dept. to turn its head the other way when it comes to immigration, or in other words if its not serious enough for murder of other serious crimes to overlook the illigal entry or in other words don’t check to see if they have thier green cards. He predicted that in as long as 20 years and probably sooner the majjority of voters that gain status here because of being forgivin for thier illigal entry will have the voting power in los angels county so they can pass any laws they want for other aliens. Other states are moving this direction too, if thier illegal don’t ship them across the border just so they can come back, and they do everyday, put them in guarded labor camps or in the military on illigal alien status work lines. If they want to be here illegaly then they can work here in not so good places. We have to change thier minds or its only going to get worse. From what i’ve heard this is alot more serious then the general population thinks it is. Im not a minuteman but it sounds like they have thier stuff fairly together, anybody have any other places to check figures out? on immigration.

We all have our concerns when it comes to this topic.
I think I can speak for most everyone when I say, it’s not the people, it’s the dollars. I’m hoping everyone is complaining because of the lost tax dollars, increased dollars spent on illegals. The fact that they continue to speak their lanuage is not totally their fault. What would you do? As a country we should not allow their lanuage, we should insist you order in English, Spanish needs to be a secondary lanuage in our schools. Employers should be fined hard for paying cash, (the first offense) shut them down if they continue.

We can’t forget this country was built in immigration, the thing that has changed is what happens after they get here. That needs to be corrected.

Pride in God and Country must be restored.

As far as Citco goes……..they are owned by the Venezualen (sp) governement whose dictator has stated several times it’s his goal to destroy the United States! Spend one penny in Citco and a portion goes to the guy who wants to kill your family. Think about it.

Fish and everyone else. Just got this today, it is worth the read

A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials in ages! It explains things better than all the baloney you hear on TV.

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely. Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.

Let’s say I break into your house. Let’s say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, “I’ve made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors; I’ve done all the things you don’t like to do. I’m hardworking and honest (except for when I broke into your house).”

According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family’s insurance plan, educate my kids, and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard work because he too is hardworking and honest, except for that breaking in part). If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there.

It’s only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I’m just trying to better myself. I’m hardworking and honest, um, except for well, you know.

And what a deal it is for me! I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice and being an anti-housebreaker. Oh yeah, and I want you to learn my language so you can communicate with me

Why can’t people see how ridiculous this is? Only in America …

Speaking as a Husband & son-n-law & brother-n-law of legal immgrants, that are all now natrualized Citizens. I don’t want this to become a bashing of legal immgrants because we where all immgrants. My wifes came to this country legally from the Philliphines, they learned the language done ever thing that I can think of to assumlate, to the American way of life that I know that’s possible.

    Hookem,

I am going to go out on a limb and speak for some of the other guys who posted and say we/I have no problem with legal immigration, ie those who put forth some effort in an attempt to be legal, learn the language, and become US citizens. It is the illegal immigrant who continue to take, take, take, and refuse to give anything back.

I would wager your wife and family have done all the things necessary to do it properly, and are now “giving” back to this country. I commend those who do it this way.

I did not have time to verify this, but have heard before that the number 2 form of “industry” in Mexico is money sent across the border from the US. To these people

My job involves the design and implementation of energy conservation projects for the government. On occasion I get the glorious opportunity (and thats about as sarcastic as it gets) to work on a project for HUD Public Housing projects or the “ghettos”. Most recently in San Bernardino County CA right outside of LA County and southern Texas. The intial phase of these projects requires me to go out and audit teh mechanical systems of all buildings owned by a certain housing authority. Part of that means going into numerous occupied public housing apartment units.

On average, I would say 50-60% of the units I’ve been to in those areas are occupied by illegal immigrants. Typical 2 bedroom apartments would have 6 to 7 beds in it and anywhere from 6-10 people living in it, none of which could speak english. Average rent they would have to pay is around $50/month and no utilites. Rent is based on houshold income and when you are paid cash it does not get reported. Taxpayers pick up the rest.

I’ve worked on projects for Minneapolis public housing also and its the same thing here just a different race.

The state of CA also owns over 25,000 apartment units set aside specifically for migrant workers from across the border to stay for free during farming season. I had the pleasure of working on that one too.

Personally I could care less if someone is an immigrant or not as long as your working and paying taxes. Its seeing people take advantage of the system on a daily basis that drives me crazy.

Legal immigrants are just that, legal imigrants.

However Illegal imigrants are C-R-I-M-I-N-A-L-S. They deserve to be deported. They are DEAD weight on our society. Don’t lecture me on the BS about they do work no one else wants too. Alot of people would do the work if they were paid cash and didn’t have to report anything and live off of the rest of us like unwanted ticks.
Not to mention the reports of Islamic fascists learning spanish and coming across the border posing as mexicans. Hopefully the next thing they blow up will not be with a nuclear bomb.

There are (at least) three distinct issues collapsed into one in the debate over illegal immigration along the border with Mexico. Here is my view of those three issues, which should (but almost never are) be treated as separate and distinct.

First, there are fears about the cultural and/or racial impact of Hispanic immigrants. There is a lot of concern about the issue of Spanish language newspapers, radio stations, etc. The underlying fear is that Spanish-speaking immigrants, legal or illegal, will form a permanent distinct group within the US. For the most part, I see this issue as much ado about absolutely nothing. My father’s family lived in the US for sixty years and three generations before they spoke English as a first language. Today, I consider myself as American as anyone. Those of you worried about immigrants who can’t/won’t learn English, immigrants who form gangs, immigrants who commit crimes and collect welfare, immigrants who will take over the country and never be American–how many of you are Catholic? Irish? German? Scandinavian? Polish? Italian? Czech? For that matter, any of you whose ancestors were not all Protestants from England–at one time, your ancestors were portrayed as alien, criminal, un-assimilable, and a general menace to American society, often in blatantly racist terms. In the eighteenth century, Benjamin Franklin wrote that German immigrants were going to “pollute pure Anglo-Saxon blood” (that is a quote) while he worried about their strange language and distinct culture, which he and many others felt could never fit in to American society. In the 1850s, Irish Catholics were said to be more closely related to monkeys than to white Protestants. In the early 1900s, Italians and Eastern Europeans were viewed as a menace to the purity of the white race who would never adopt American ways or the English language.

Does any of this sound familiar? There are bad elements among all racial and ethnic groups–in the nineteenth century, most street gangs were Irish or Italian. This doesn’t mean that most Irish or Italian immigrants were criminals, any more than it means most Hispanics are now. As for the idea that Spanish-speaking immigrants will never learn English, the same was said about my ancestors from Norway and Germany, as it was said about the ancestors of most everyone else on here. If modern immigrants wish to get ahead, they will have to learn English and adopt American culture, just like my ancestors did. One survey found that 90% of Hispanic parents in the US thought it was important that their children speak English. In short, I think the wild fears about the cultural threat of Hispanics is just plain silly. They will adjust to American life and improve themselves, just like most everyone else’s family did.

The next issue is the question of border security. This is an issue of far more concern to me. I do not believe immigration from Mexico and Central America should be cut off (more on that in a moment). I do think the southern border should be secured, as it is currently a mess. Right now, just about anything can be smuggled across the border from Mexico–cocaine, terrorists, raw meat (that is not a joke), un-documented workers, i.e. illegal aliens, etc. That is intolerable, and something must be done about it. A nation that cannot secure its own borders is a nation that cannot be taken seriously, yet the border situation with Mexico is a joke. This issue (border security) does not actually have anything to do with the alleged problems resulting from Hispanic immigration–legal immigrants from Mexico and Central America can and should be allowed to enter the US, but they should do so legally. Tighter border security could weed out the worthy immigrants who contribute to the US from the minority of immigrants who cause problems.

The third distinct issue is the economic impact of Hispanic immigrants in the US, legal or otherwise. I think the issue of Hispanic immigrants as a cultural threat is silly, while I think the issue of the need for tighter border security is a valid concern. The issue of the economic impact of Hispanic immigrants is more complex. Are they taking “our jobs”? Not unless you want to work on landscaping crews or on a hog disassembly line for five or seven dollars an hour with few or no benefits. On the other hand, there is the argument that such jobs would pay more if there weren’t people here willing to work for low wages under poor conditions. I don’t blame the immigrants for taking such jobs, though. If I was in their situation, and had a choice of staying in Honduras or Mexico and living in a cardboard box, or coming to Iowa to work in an IBP plant or wash dishes for cash under the table, I know what I would do.

The era when a kid in the US could expect a good-paying job in the local factory right out of high school are gone, and they aren’t coming back, regardless of whether every illegal immigrant in the US is deported or not. After World War II, the US emerged as the strongest economy in the world, and from 1945 to the late 1960s a kid in a place like Moline, Illinois could expect to get a comfortable job for life at the local John Deere plant. By the early 1970s, Western Europe and Japan caught up to the US in industrial output, and the new competition forced US employers to cut wages and benefits, ending the “good old days”. Illegal immigration had nothing to do with that, and ending illegal or legal immigration will nto bring those days back. American workers now have to compete with workers in dozens or other countries.

Protectionism (shutting out non-US products) won’t change things either; it will only hurt the US economy. For instance, not far from me is the Amana refrigerator plant. Fridges there are labelled and packaged in three languages: English, French, and Spanish. French because a lot of fridges are sold in Canada; Spanish because more and more Amana appliances are sold in Latin America. Cutting off imports from Mexico will result in Mexico stopping the importation of US-made goods, which means fewer fridges sold. That means fewer jobs in Amana, Iowa. In addition, the copper used in the cooling unit of every Amana fridge comes mainly from Chile–the US does not have enough cooper to meet demand. Banning Chilean products from the US would drive up the cost of copper, in turn driving up the cost of Amana refrigerators, which benefits no one.

My point is, we live in a global economy, and protectionism and/or immigration restriction is not going to change that. The good old days when an American with no more than a high school diploma could expect a good job are gone, and they are not coming back regardless of which party is in power. We must adjust and adapt to the new economy, whether it is “fair” or not.

On that note, neither party is going to do anything about border security. The GOP’s business constituency likes and needs cheap labor, so the Republicans aren’t likely to do much about it. The Democrats believe that all those new Hispanic immigrants will vote Democrat and keep the Democrats in power, so they will never do anything to slow illegal immigration, either. I am a registered Republican (a libertarian as opposed to a conservative), but I am a little disgusted with my own party’s inactivity on this issue.

    Amen to that fishahollik!
Sometimes we need to clean up our own back yards. From the sounds of it we have alot of cleaning.
We complain about gas prices and the current minimum wage and our natural resources but yet we have overlooked where our tax dollars go and the damage being done by illegals and corrupt government officials.
When I worked next to law enforcement I heard many times about DNR official busting an illegal immigrant with no fishing license, 25 walleyes 100 crappies etc. etc. etc. What did our system do to this unlawful perpitrater slap there hands throw them in jail for 30 days and then sent back into the system with instructions on how to become legal and yet never to be heard from again. Still out there illegal today I would assume! Who paid for it, us the legal workers paying our taxes sitting at home living on a budget cause our taxes took a large chunk of our pay.
Then society, social workers will come flying in on one of us legal workers that have more then one family living in a single family dwelling home.
But for the real question here is where do we the people start to fix the situation our country is in today?
Back in 1989 when I was in the service we had an illegal alien in boot camp it took the system near 3 months to figure him out before they booted him out. So if they are that slow with one right under there nose I kinda have my doubts they will never be able to figure out just how many and who and which ones are illegal… Just my .02

Lets suppose were 20 years down the road now and alot of illigal aliens have come to the city of Los Angeles. Theres an upcoming election of city officials and thier not sure whos going to win. One canidate is from the United States and the other was from mexico and he entered here when he was a kid working in the fields. The main concern of the voting public is two things now, the Natural born person wants to still keep illigals out and the mexican decent cantidate wants law inforcement to overlook illigal entry because hes seen the poor conditions in mexico first hand. The reason why no one knows how this election is going to come out is because nows theres a voting public of mexican decent thats equal to the voting public of natural born californians. The mexican cantidate wants illigal immigration to be overlooked and the natural born cantidate wants the laws to be followed. This election goes to the public and the mexican cantidate wins and now he instructs the local law inforcement to over look illigal entry, just how he got in and was forgivin. Now with local laws passed and in the air theres a feel sorry for them attitude and its open doors to anyone from mexico and other border states are very close to the same problem. Heres my opinion, if we build a new fence and monitoring system along the border theres still going to be thousands that will find a way to enter here illigally, I’ll bet if i tried to get in through this fence i could eventually find a way too. The only thing that i think can be done is do something that the word spreads back into mexico sdaying if you go to America they will put you somewhere for a few years and then send you back. If they know that if thier caught thier going to jail or a camp for sure and not just simply be deported where they can just try to get in again they would be less apt to come here illigally again. If they knew that if they were caught and were more than likely going to be put into a camp thier probably wouldn’t be as many illigal enteries. For those that enter here illigally make them clear roadsides etc. I know the roads here are full of litter and need cleaning, thats a start and doing it in the cold that thier not used to might change thier minds.

I would say they should be sent to the 51st state, Iraq.

Yep, you read it here, make Iraq our 51st state, use it as a detention / prison camp.
