First of all, this is a friends wheeler and may have to call him to answer a comment. 2005 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO.

He called me the other day and told me how all of a sudden, his wheeler just stopped running. I don’t know the whole store and every detail when it occured, but he said his dad was just driving it around the yard (a 50-year old that is pretty cautious) and while he was driving, the wheeler just shut down, no power, motor wasn’t running nothing.

So he started looking over the wiring and owner’s manual. Couldn’t find anything. So yesterday he went to Cannon Power Sports in Cannon Falls, they were stumped, couldn’t find anything by looking over it.

Any ideas or has anybody encountered such a thing?

I should note that the wheeler was totaled during the winter after falling out of the back of the pickup (still giving him crap for that because it was in his own yard) and Cannon Power replaced just about everything on the wheeler, frame on up! Thats why i feel that maybe just a wire fell loose, but i’m in western MN, and he is in the twin cities, so i can’t look at it myself.

So again, Any ideas or has anybody encountered such a thing?

    thanks

I HAD THE EXACT PROBLEM LAST WEEK ABOUT A MILE FROM MY TRUCK…ONLY I THINK MINE WAS AN EASIER FIX…HERE HOW I FIXED IT..
    1.WALK 1 MILE TO TRUCK
    2.GET GAS CAN
    3.FILL WHEELER UP
4.THINK HOW I COULD BE SO STUPID.
HOPE HE GETS IT FIGURED OUT…JAY

ok, just got off the phone with him to get some more info. I guess the wheeler starts up and runs, but when he hits the throttle, nothing happens. (doesn’t rev up or anything). So i asked him to manually move the throttle on the carb, thinking that the cable maybe broken, but still nothing happened. It still shifts and all electrical accesories work.

RVRAT, lol, i wish it was that easy.

But thinking about it now, it might not be as bad as i thought, he’s going to keep ripping into it. I’m thinking of a few ideas that maybe wrong and going to have him check them first and then i will let u guys know what happened, but still open for any suggestions!

Ok, just to finish off the thread, he figured out what was up with the wheeler. Somehow, the kill switch was just barely unplugged.

Don’t ask how it took him 3 days to spot it even after taking all the covers off and ready to start following every wire, but we will be giving him a little sh*t about that one for a while.
