Looking into a gun safe, any heads up on good, reasonable dealers (brand) in the west metro? I did look today at Cabelas, they’re running some good deals but I’d like to shop around.

Just tryed their web site but it’s not there. I would try calling.
I bought mine from these guys.
Suggestion….Buy one 30% bigger then you think you need. I ended up keeping a lot of valueables in mine along with all my firearms.

I’ll look them up tomorrow, thanks. Yep, plan is to get something large enough for everything valuable and then go a size or two up. The way I look at it, buy one safe, one time. Do it right the first time!

We looked around at Scheels one day and the one thing that the salesman told us was to make sure you have a heavy safe. If the safe is too light, thieves can still just take it with them and get into it later.

He showed us the biggest safe they had and then a slightly smaller one that was about half the cost of the big one. I guess a lot of guys buy two of the slightly smaller ones for the same price as the big one because they end up with more storage space and they are easier to move if you ever have to.

Check out http://www.zanottiarmor.com. Zanotti Armor is a local (Waterloo, IA) manufacturer of gun safes but ship all over the country. They do alot of business with the law enforcement industry. The best thing about them is that you put them together yourself. They can also be taken apart and moved. They are not light weight as it took 2 guys to carry the base, top and sides. They have several styles and you can custom design the dimentions for your own needs. Very high quality. I love mine!

Spoke with all the places you guys recommend…

Clarence, this place sounds good, although they’re closed on Mon., they’re having a big labor day sale the 1st-4th, I’ll be checking them out!

Brian, Bills doesn’t deal in safes.

Bigdog, Zanotti’s look nice although the fire rating isn’t quite what I’m looking for, I’m in need of solid construction to gain the extra protection.

Thanks for the heads up guys.

Hmmm…I was sure that they did…I called the Robbinsdale location and they do have some in stock…

    Circle Pines does not.

I called circle pines. That would explain the “we don’t deal in safes”. One would really think he would’ve pointed me in the direction of the other store?? Oh well, the last time I was in Bills I was ready to “pull the trigger” on a new .45, they didn’t seem all that interested in selling, so I walked.

Stack-On has a reputation of having sheet metal safes, but they do come in bigger sizes. That is to say fire-proof models. Sell’em at Dick’s. If you start a frequent buyer program there, you can save up to 15 percent. Got mine for $425. That’s cornfeed compared to most out there. Kids haven’t figured out how to break into it. Least, I’m not writing as a ghost, so it seems to work well.

Going with a safe from Cabelas, the deals are to good right now to pass up! Good safes to boot. If anyone’s in the market for a safe…Cabelas.
