I have a chance to pick up one these in excellent shape , comes with both transducer cup (boat, canoe)and pole mounts,(ice fishing)and is powered by 8 size D batteries.. I see it was made in 1994(display screen says so). I can get it for the cost of a real good case of beer .But I dont know much about these portables, would it make a good addition to my now tooooo big collection of fishing equiptment (just kidding ,one cant have tooo much) or should I stay away from these ??
    Thanks in advance Jeff

I had one a few years ago and it served me well. Being portable makes it nice for use on the ice and boat. The only drawback is the batteries. But, for the right price, I am sure it will perform great for you without a big investment

I would imagine you could even use the small MarCum/Vex batteries as well with a little modification of the wires.

I bet your right there , I never thought of that
Thats it, I’m going by his case of beer tommorow and help him drink when I deliver it , then I will get it even cheaper

    Thanks for responses AM

If you are like I am, you will be getting it for half price
