Managed to get out on Gull last friday am. Buddy from high school called me and said he had a cpl seats open in the boat and would I like to go. Could not pass up a chance to fish with this person. We launched at 7am and by 9 am had boated 23 eyes. My daughter had one in the boat before buddy and I even had our redtails in the water. He was marking a ton of fish, so I dropped the aqua view down and was like looking in an aquarium. Not one or eyes..but 4-6 at a pop running around. Some huge sunnies and nice crappies too, but mostly eyes. By 9 the bite had slowed so we commenced to go catch several LM bass on miscelaneous points and islands. Leech bite was not there, nor was crawler, but we went thru 5 dozen retails. Kiddo broke off about a 6lb wally at boat, kept a limit of 14-16 (ones we couldnt catch on mille lacs earlier in week) and rest of fish were shorts. Had fun, 14 foot was magic depth.

Hey dude! Nice to hear you got out there and had a productive outing! I was wondering if you were going to make it up there this year!

So Redtails is the hot bite right now eh? Boy, if I had a boat I think I’d make the road trip!

Boy, when you find them like that and you don’t have any dynamite. In 20 years I have only caught one walleye on Gull and the family ate it while I was in the shower.
