I went to apply for one and got to the end and it says 9.99% APR, I thought at one time that was 0% Apr, Don’t know.

That is still pretty cheap. But it is only for the first year, right? Does it climb after a while?
How do you think they can afford to give you all those points?

I have one and I like it, I simply make sure to pay it off every month so I don’t get charged intrest. THey must change their offers frequently, because when I got mine it was 4.99 for a year and I think 12.99 after that.

    walleyefarm1,

That 9.99% is on purchases made at Cabela’s retail or on-line only.
Purchases made elsewhere are at 15.99%.
    Cash advances 19.99%.
I recommend getting it for the points and basically free outdoor gear, just be sure to pay it off every month and
    your the winner.
I use mine for just about everything, pay it off monthly,
and use my points every spring to gear up for fishing.

    Good Luck,

I bought my 12 year old a new Savage .243 with my points!
They add up fast with airfares, hotels, dinners, car rentals, etc.

I love the card. Picked up a new Benelli shotgun and a Remington rifle for the wife last year. I’m thinking a safe this year.

If you can not aford to pay it off each month it does not matter what the intrist rate is. You can not afford it.

I also pay mine off every month and enjoy the perks of it.

Ah im new to credit cards, no credit makes it harder than someone with bad credit, not right. i thought apr was you paid that percentage no matter what. I am a strong beleiver of paying off each month. Being a farmer i think i could run up points fast.

Or…you can get the new Gander Mtn. Mastercard and get over twice the points Cabelas gives you. Gander gives you 5% on the dollar of purchases in their store, 1% elsewhere. I think Cabelas is 2% instore and 1% elsewhere. That’s why I switched!

Yes, double at Cabelas. I’m up to $122 cabelas bucks already !!! Just buy your regular stuff, you would normally write a check for, or pay cash, and pay off every month. Its not that hard, and doesn’t cost you anything. Then as a bonus, last night I got a Grand opening invitation in the mail, if I spend $500, I get $150 activated on a special card they sent me. Guess where I’m headed ???…

Got a thing in the mail….spend $$$ at cabelas and get a gift card…well heck, I went for broke and came home with a $150 cabelas gift card…after checkout the lady said” hang on to this, its $25 and works like a gift card”

So I bought a bow and some accessories, and came home with $175 in Cabela’s Cash

    That’s a deal

I got one of those as well. Do you have to “spend” $500 or can you use your existing points as part of the 500?

You can use points, gift cards or any other type of things as well, They had this deal last year as well, and I had returned a broken fishing pole, had a different gift card, and used all my points, I ended up with a bill of $450 and had to actually only pay $110, with all those discounts and new money from them. Great Deal!!

About that gift card. On Aug. 3 I spent, well, let’s just say well over enough money to get me the $150 gift card, and then last week I get the Grand Opening offer in the mail and I call Cabelas asking if they would honor it. After only about 5 minutes on the phone, and asking to talk to a supervisor the decided to give me the $150 gift card. Just had to show up with my reciept.

So guys, if you spent money earlier this month give them a call, you may still get the gift card even though it states right on there the dates that quallify and you may not, with a phone call you may get lucky.

Tell me this , Just got my letter telling me I was rejected, i have no credit. Not bad credit, not good credit, NONE, How is a person supposed to get one then with no credit. I bet someone with bad credit can get one. They punish because i have never made a truck payment or a home loan?. What is a nother way to establish credit without borroring money? Thanks to the best fishing site EVER.

Stop by your local bank and talk with someone, they might help you get a bank card to build some credit.

Open any credit card, even the crappy ones you get in the mail. Use it for a month or two, and always pay it off. Never have a problem again. You will get more offers then you want.

Make a $500 deposit at a bank in a savings account, tell the banker you would like to take out a $500 secured loan, you will have to amortize this loan for at least 6 months for the bank to report this to your credit bureau. You will be charged interest, but a lot less interest than an unsecured loan. Watch the credit card companies, as they tend to hide an annual fee, soemtimes $150 and up for those with no credit.

Was wondering if Gander had a card. Getting mine next trip into the store. Along with my wifes job App.

Doesnt having a steady job and living in one place for a period of time help you build credit. I thought these where 2 things they looked at when applying for any line fo cedit.

Yes, but unfortunately debt weighs heavy in ones score, as long ss you pay it off on time. Those with the highest score have the most debt, and don’t have cards that are close to being maxed out, this counts against you. There are so many factors which make up your score.
