Got a few walleyes today and just had a meal of fresh fish. I used some Fish Crisp brand coating that I won as a door prize in our fishing league. This is probably the best coating I have ever had. Has any one seen this brand sold anywhere? What kind of coating do you guys prefer? I really like the Zatarains Cajun also.

    Sirchad-

I’ve seen it at WalMart in Rochester, MN. It may be in other WalMarts as well. As an added bonus, you get that fabulous WalMart shopping experience .

My vote goes to Zaterain’s. Last September I brought 3 various fish coatings along on our fishing expedition and the guys unanimously picked the Zaterain’s over the other 2 brands. They told me not to bother bringing any other brand for this year’s expedition. The best thing about it is that Zaterain’s is the least expensive of all the fish coatings I have used. I buy it at Walmart and I think it is like $.79 a package. What I’d like to know is why I always get stuck being the guy in charge of frying the fish.

The last batch we had, up at the pond was “THE BEST” ever. Iv’e been to quite a few, that have been excellant, but Dmans last batch, he used a chicken coating, that he picked up at Apperts, here in St Cloud. YUMMY !!! Apperts is a resturant supplier.

http://www.miesproducts.com click on the breading part, the 6-5# bags are the way we go, we divide it up between 5 or 6 of us. Not sure on the prices this year but by buying in bulk it is very cheap per pound. No corn meal which I don’t care for the corn meal taste, the Shore Lunch is ok, but has a bit much garlic to over power the fish taste. Try soaking your fillets in a good red beer then shake in a bag of coating, then pop into some peanut oil, mannnn! I can already taste it!
