MN Trout Stamp question

I’m headed way up Nort’ next week (Loon Lake/Grand Marais MN area) and may try to catch a trout in addition to walleye. Looking online at the MN DNR site I see a few different options for purchasing a trout stamp. Do I need just the “Stamp-trout” or the “Stamp-trout (validation and pictoral)”? I’m a WI resident.

Thanks in advance for any help. Four nights with friends away from the real world should be a good time.

you just need the trout stamp validation. Unless you want to pay the extra few bucks and collect stamps.

Hey Curt, As a MN resident I can tell you how I purchase mine and I’d assume it would go the same for non resident. At a ELS agent tell them u need a trout stamp, they will then ask you that for an extra fee they will send u the physical adhesive backed stamp(if u collect I guess?)They then print out a slip of paper that states trout stamp on it and you use that along with your regular fishing license and u should be good to go. It might be a good idea to contact the MN dnr just to be sure it is the same for nonresident. Hopes this helps a bit and good luck! Randy
