Just pass on a numb lesson I learned don,t forget to clean the coils on your unit. I cleaned mine and could not believe the junk that came out its keeping house a whole lot cooler and it even shuts off once in awhile.I used a garden hose and it worked great

    Great post
I learned that lesson a few years ago. Amazing, the results you get. I have 2 window units that do an awesome job as long as they are kept clean! A old farm house with high ceilings even makes it better for keeping things cool We are surviving here

Heres another little hint on keeping the house cool, especially at night. If you can cut a hole in the ceiling in a hallway or upstairs and buy a vent fan to take out the warm air thats close to the ceiling. Alot of times, especially if the air condition is just barely big enough to keep it halfway cool, it pulls the hot air off the ceilings and pushes it out through the roof vents then theres not as much hot air to cool down, they really really help, especially at night when you can open your wondows then and it pulls the cool air in from outside.

haven’t done it but you could just turn on the bath fan on to and leave it run alittle while just a thought

It would work a little but it wouldn’t move enough air for the whole house. A ceiling vent fan is around the $200 mark and around $20 for wire, switch box and a switch.
