For Kevin Mench, Francisco Cordero, Laynce Nix and a minor leaguer…what a crap trade.

Carlos Lee traded to Rangers

I know even Bert said he’d look good in a Twins uni, but I didn’t hear what they wanted in return.
I’m a little concerned that if something should be reasonable enough for the Twins to pull off a trade, what it might do to a rather fragile team unit. With all the youth doing so well, and some of the key elements that might have been trade bait,(Shannon,Torii) hurt. I know Terry ain’t dealing much pitching except maybe Lohse. I’m thinking Gardy has got to be hoping nothing upsets the apple cart, he can get Silva to pitch consistently, and bring up Garza within the next month… it should be interesting.

July 28, 2006 at 5:51 pm #464722whats the deal with this they could have gotten a couple people with talent for an allstar! wow thats all i have to say the brewers are right back to the same crap hole they were in 5 years ago! well there goes this season and the seasons to come!nice job melevin!
July 28, 2006 at 5:59 pm #464726The Rangers weren’t exactly smart with this trade either. They need pitching…not more sticks.
Look at their lineup now, after the trade:
Michael Young
Carlos Lee
Mark Texiera
Hank Blalock
Gary Matthews Jr.
Brad Wilkerson
Rod Barajas
Phil Nevin
Ian KinslerI mean, really…did they really need Carlos Lee? They need pitching, so they get rid of a decent one in Cordero. I don’t understand the reasoning there.
July 28, 2006 at 6:43 pm #464740Where guys get paid a lot of money to chew snuss, spit, hit stuff, get mad, cry, run, get really mad and throw stuff, get more money for doing well, etc. You get the drift?
I Love it!!
July 28, 2006 at 6:44 pm #464742The Brewers are nothing but a Triple A team for teams like the Yankee’s and Red Socks! Once they seem to get a nice players (in this case an All Star), they trade him away for younger talent!
July 28, 2006 at 7:24 pm #464764It’s the same thing with the Twins and all small market teams. The Twins have some very good young talent. Once some of those young guys get a few years under their belt the Twins most likely won’t be able to afford them either. Apparently the Twins have some exceptional scouts or they make excellent personnel decisions because they seem to keep reloading. They don’t always make the playoffs, but they are almost always competitive. I really question this trade by Milwaukee. They would of probably lost Lee if they kept him till the end of the season, but I thought Nelson Cruz was supposed to replace him.
July 28, 2006 at 8:34 pm #464788As stated earlier, this deal makes no sense for either team, but especially the Rangers! Not that I care, but when are they going to learn that pitching is more important? They must have a woman running that show, as the saying goes….”Chicks dig the long ball”!
Nothing in this post was meant to be derogatory to the ladies.
July 28, 2006 at 9:41 pm #464820That might not be the case if good old Carl knocked the dust off of his wallet?
I should not whine to much. We did get a new place to watch them play. But I wonder what it would be like with someone that is a veteran and IS healthy??? Am I dreaming?
July 29, 2006 at 12:40 am #464862Terry Ryan wont pull the trigger unless its a 40 year old veteran for $1
