Cleaning the Raingear

Yesterday, I was in the boat hooking up a new on board charging system when a curious odor drifted up to my nose. After a quick search, I discovered that the smell was coming from my rain suit that was stuffed into one of the compartments. Even walleyes can leave behind a little smell at 90 degrees.

So, how to clean that suit? Read the instructions? Cabela’s says it’s ok to machine wash on warm. No way! That machine shrinks all my clothes. At least they have been tighter fitting lately.

Finally the Eureka comes. I strip down to the nude (another mental pic for Tuck), put on the rain suit, and jump into the shower. After scubbing down with soap and water, I just took off the suit, tossed it in the sink, and took my regular shower. Killing two birds with one stone…so to speak. Hung the suit up to dry and it’s good as new.

Anyone want to borrow my rain pants?

Hey ya OF, Don’t you know the difference between wallaye scent and Lutey

You leave that stuff in the boat and it’s gonna wreak
Besides what’s BOP gonna say when she finds that her new boat has a less than flowery fresh scent

Hope you like the new charger, what did you get?

Machine wash in gentle cycle cold or warm water, then hang it up in the house to dry. It will be great. Been doing it for years. You may even want to get some milder soap if your worried. My wife has washed my raingear for years and it stays looking brand new. Just dont use the dryer. I wouldn’t hang in the sun either. Takes a couple days to dry but worth it.

Dave, I just bought a 5/5 Promariner dual system that was on sale at Fleet Farm. I didn’t mount it to the boat, but am letting it ride loose in the battery compartment surrounded by 2″ foam rubber. Hope it doesn’t bounce around too much. I’ll take it out for charging though.

You’re right Suzuki, but it isn’t nearly as much fun that way.

sounds like a plan. I don’t think it’ll bounce around, but I would be cautious of the foam blocking ventilation to the battery compartment. I hope that boat is bringing you the amount of pleasure as it is good looking
