I had my cousin and his 8 year old out crappie fishing by Aitkin last night. We were about 100yds from shore and a bass boat with 3 guys were cruising the shores pitching jigs along with f$%k, s$%t, son of a #$%# etc. They had to have seen the kid in our boat and it didn’t stop them. I can appreciate profanity as much as the next guy, but jeez, keep it clean at least within ear shot of an 8 year old. I had to think the people out on their decks got a good whif of it too. Swearing and fishing go together like peas and carrots, but pick the area wisely. Kind of embarassing when the boy said “man their dropping a lot of F-bombs!”

Ya everything carrys on water farther not every body is aware of that . And if you point it out you are the the BAD guy !! Comes with age Or with time on water .
July 28, 2006 at 4:03 am #464570Whenever I have the kid and I hear swearing anywhere, I flat out tell them to “knock it off”! I’ve never had anyone continue after saying that.
I would love to share more but I don’t want you guys to think there are good bass guys out there…
July 28, 2006 at 5:28 am #464574I know what your saying. I was fishing off a bridge with a bunch of people around. These two guys one old & one young just kept going on F this & F that. Didn’t bother me any but their was a young boy and a lady right in the middle of it. I told them they might watch their language because of the boy and they left shortly. The lady did give me a wink kinda like thank you when I said that. Same thing I notice with young people in a check out line in a big store anymore. They just don’t care or have no manners. Probably more like no Upbringing..
July 28, 2006 at 9:39 am #464579I believe that swearing has become just a part of daily language. When I was being raised, damn was a horrible word and now ‘F’ bombs are pretty normal in conversation and not just among the young. It is hard not to use such language when it is everywhere in the media.
Everyone should remember that many people are offended by such language.July 28, 2006 at 9:53 am #464580

Very true! And how about the guys who never figure out that yelling over the noise of their outboard means everyone on the lake can hear them? I’ve heard some intersting “private” conversations over the years.

I couldn’t help but laugh when I read this part of your statement. My thoughts are the same as that people believe it’s their right to be able to say whatever, whenever they want.
July 28, 2006 at 2:53 pm #464641Not quite what you’re talking about but I was impressed. Last night at the Lacrosse Loggers game when they sang the National Anthem I noticed a softball(?) team on the field north of Copeland were all standing with their hats over their hearts. I liked it.

And always remember this: never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!
Simple minds use simple words, generally only consisting of 4 letters.
Inform those using foul language in front of children this!
