Ice Out

Ice out is here in the Cities. All lakes in the 494 loop are wide open. Even the deep ones like Lake Phalen (90 feet) are open

I’m thinking about going crappie fishing next weekend and was wondering how far north ice out has occurred?

And the BIG question – What does Mille Lacs look like after a day like today. (Monday 4-15 it was 91 degrees in St Paul)

Jon, We still have lot’s of ice to go here on Mille Lacs. It is getting darker in color. I will take a digital pic tomorrow and post it here!

I did here that the ice is off Pickerel Lake outside of Aitkin and I saw one other small lake near Round lake NE of Garrison open. Most all small lakes look like they could go in the next couple of day’s…….

I hear there will be a good blow tomorrow…. A steady 20-30 with bigger gusts. That should loosen things up!! I’ll look forward to the pics.

I’m willing to bet with winds today the ice could really loosen up. Shoot us an update this evening if you see any changes.
