Getting ready to up grade to a bigger boat. I have a few question for the ranger owners on the site. looking at used 620 or 619, can someone tell me the difference in the inside measurment in the back of these two boats. The 619 looks like it might be a little cramped in the back with two people trolling out of the back. both models front decks look like that they are about the same in size, so the size diference is in the back of these boats. I have been in several 620 and they seem to be more then big enough. Never been in a 619 so you guys with 619 do you wish you would have bought a 620 instead. The 619 looks like it has a little less storage, Is there still enough room to get everything in the 619? Any info on this would helpful with my decision.
    thanks

    Matt,

I have a 680 tiller,( which is 17′ 9″ i believe) and I love it, I have looked at a few 619 consoles in considering changing to console, and the room is comprable with the extra foot of length, The tiller boats have more storage, but it is all about what you want. My boat has tons of storage and I would definatley miss the space if I didn’t have it. I can hold 6 to 8 rods/reels no problem!!! I know I really didn’t answer your question but maybe it helps!?! Are you looking for tiller or console? new? or used? I would like to find a good deal on a 619 console myself! Good luck to you!

always go bigger, always. more room never hurt anyone. just look at it this way, more room to catch the big hogs.

before you buy, go for a ride in a 619 with a foot and a half chop. the 619 really slaps the water. the 620 has a much better ride. i do not own a ranger, but have fished out of a 619 as a friend of mine has one. my 2025 lund pro-v has a much better ride than the 619. if it were me i would look at the 620 or the 621………tom fellegy

I have been in a ton of 620’s and like em alot but I bought a 619. I am perfictly happy with the 619!!! plenty of room and a sweet ride!!! I have trolled with 4 people in it all day long, with 4 it is a little crowded but with 2 people it is perfict! When it is time to upgrade it will be a new 619 for this guy!!!

You will like them both either one will make you plenty happy!

I have a 2002 620 and have fished out of both, you do lose a little storage in the compartments behind the driver and passenger seats…those compartments are noticeably smaller than in the 620 but they are still good size.
I love my 620 and would have a hard time going to something smaller.

Couple things to consider….will a 620 fit in your garage….if not will a 619…if you are planning on keeping it outside then it doesn’t matter.
Boat control gets more difficult the bigger the boat, personally unless you are fishing the great lakes enough or are going to primarily troll cranks/spinners a 621 is just too big.
How’s your tow vehicle?? A 620 is a big heavy boat, fill it with gas and gear and that is a big load.

With that said..I was nervous as heck when bought my 620 new from a dealer….but I haven’t regretted it one second since. It is an unbelievable boat and I love it.

The beam is 96″ on a 620 and 92″ on a 619 so you dont loose all that much space. I have never been in one but I do a lot of research on them(plan to buy one one day). In my opinion a 620 is the optimum fishing boat, but it all depends on the hp rating that you want. if you aren’t going to go with a 250 on the 620 then I would go with a 200 on a 619. It’s been my experience with boats that if they are not maxed out on power then they are under-powered. they will still plane out but it just doesn’t run as nice or smooth.

Thanks for the great advice. The garge size is not an problem, neither boat won’t fit, it will sit outside. A half ton chevy should tow either boat so that is not a problem.

What kind of speeds are you guys getting out of your 619 and 620?
Bigger is always better in my book but it seems that you can go over board at times. Used 619 seem to be a little cheaper then the 620 so this is why I started looking at the 619 also. I would like to ride in a 619 first before buying one, but need to find a used one at a dealer to go for a ride.
Still would like to know the inside measurment of these two boats if anyone could take the time to get some ruff measurments in the back of these boats? would like to know the lenght of the side boxes and the in between mearurment of the side boxes in the back of either?

    thanks

I have a 619 with a 200 Opti on the back. Before I added my kicker my gps top speed was 62 mph, now that I have my kicker and have it full of gear with two people full tank of fuel it runs 56.

I fished as a Coangler in the RCL/before it swicthed to FLW and I got the chance to ride in about every make and size of boat on the circuit and the remark about the BIG Lund rideing better then the 619 still makes me chuckle!!

On Devils Lake ND I was in a brand new Lund with a 225 Yamaha and by the time we ran the lake in 3 footers wide open Both graphs were tore out of the councle and the screws came out of the floor on the chair on the passanger seat and it pulled right out..

Aluminum boats do not compare to glass!!

    b_sander,
next thing you will be telling me that you will stay dry running WOT in those 3 footers in your ranger. my wife and i fished a couples tournament last saturday on lake mille lacs. out of 47 boats, all the major brands were represented. there was a 15 to 20 mph blow out of the south, hunters point resort is on the east shore. everybody, and i mean everybody, standing in the weigh-in line was wet. so you can’t say ranger is any dryer than any other boat in that situation. i didn’t say that all tin boats had a better ride than glass, i said, IMHO, my lund had a better ride than the 619, IMHO i think the problem with the 619 is it is not a deep enough V for the width of the boat. i am not hammering on all ranger boats, just the 619, the 620 and 621 have a much better ride than the 619. a 619 slpas the water in a chop, it don’t cut through the waves like its bigger brothers…..tom fellegy

I agree with what Tom had to say about the 619’s compared to the 620’s. I have been in both and do agree with that statement. I’m not sure if the 619 is better than the Lund 2025 or not. We have to remember with Technology lately, you cant say you have ridden in a 2002 Name brand A and Compare it to a 2006 Name Brand A or B. Many manufacturers have been tweaking their hulls of late. Just cause it was not a good ride 5 years ago, you cant say the new ones haven’t improved, unless you have ridden in a new one. Agian just my opinion.

My experence in big waves and wind it really doesnt matter the brand of boat you are in!! It matters what kind of rain gear!!
Alls im saying is before I bought my boat I rode in them all and chose which one I thought was best.

Anyone have any feedback on a 190 reata? 2005 with a yamaha 200 (non hpdi) on the back? My only worry is that will slap the water, anyone know anything about them, good or bad?
