I know theres some people on here that know a thing or two about some things so here you go. My wife and I have been looking for the right car for her for the last two months to replace one of my gas guzzlers. We found one last night. 2002 Honda Accord. Made the deal and worked out the numbers. The credit union had closed for the night so we left and scheduled a time to come back this moring and pick up the car.

Now this morning I get ready to go over there to pick up the car and drop off the trade and I get a call from the salesman telling me the the car had already been sold earlier yesterday afternoon and theres nothing they can do about it!!

My question is, what can I do about this? I cant beleive that out of all the people that brought the car out, worked the sale, evaualted our trade in, etc, THAT NO ONE KNEW THE CAR HAD BEEN SOLD ALREADY!!!!!

Make sure you get your deposit back today, and go find another 2002 Honda Accord at another dealership. I’m sure you will be able to find something else. Let them know you’re walking. Maybe they’ll try and sweeten the pot for you and help you find another vehicle similar to it.
    Good luck!

If you did not have a deposit on the car you have no one to be mad at. If you did have a deposit on it then the dealer should have offered a sincere apology and tried to work something out with you on another vehicle to make up for the inconvenience.

If you are shopping for something and find the perfect one you need to be ready to buy or put down a deposit or you run the risk of losing out.

If you are a credit union member, and by the looks of your Bio- you live in MPLS. There is a credit union owned and operated deal that you should check out. It called CU Companies and they have a dealer who will find you anything you want, and I promise it will be at a bigger savings to you then anything out there. I have purchased my last 3 autos this way, and one of them was an accord. If you want to give this a try, give Andy Bryce a call @ 612-209-4568- feel free to PM me if you want more info . I will never deal with a dealership again

Call Marshall Smith at CU Companies Family Wheels. 763-537-8686. He’ll find you a car in a day and get the lowest price.

Thanks for all the info. Its been really helpful in the past to get all this feedback on this site, fishing related or not. I’m actually on my way to pick another one that is 2 years newer, 15k less miles, and only 1k more than I was looking to spend.

Basically told the other dealer to go $%&^ themselves, not that it will matter but it sure made me feel better. Lessons learned I guess.

Although I wouldnt bother, since it would be easier and likely save you money in the long run to get another, but I believe that you can sue.

If you can prove that you had a deal and the deal was below a fair market value, then you can sue for the lost benefit.

I think that you would need a signed purchase agreement to get anywhere.

Sold cars the past 2 years. Wish I had a quarter for everytime a customer told me they would be back the next day to buy the car.

Similiar situation, just doesn’t sound the same coming from Joe public.

Cars are just like ugly women, they are everywhere. Its a buyer’s market for new and used, give it some time, you’ll find what you are looking for.
