Just got back from a fantastic 4 days on LOTW. We managed 3 Northerns in the 20 pound class. Many in the 36-38 inch range as well! The largest was 40 and 1/2 inches with a 21 inch girth. Most caught on tip-ups, although some long battles on ice rods took place as well!
NO trophy walleyes(caught I should say). ALthough we managed quite a few in the 20-24 inch range. If you know anything about Lake of the Woods, you know those are plump fish!
We ran into the occasional jumbo perch as well. We were NW of Stony Point fishing on a slow drop. It started in about 10 feet, then out to 18 feet. Most of the JAckfish were in a tad shallower. Best walleye action came in 12-15ft. of water!!
Keep the rods bendin’!!!

OUr last day took us to the “16 mile” reef. We caught numerous sauger, walleye and jumbo perch. However, the size of these fish were NOT very respectable. IN fact, quite small with the largest walleye barely pushing 18 inches. We found most action in 28-32 feet of water! Various spoons and slip bobber techniques, were rewarded with scores of fish!
