Muskies in Gull Lake

They are already in the lake in small numbers but the DNR is considering expanding it’s stocking to other lakes. Gull is one of the first on the list. It has been proven that Muskies DO NOT hurt Walleyes, Bass or Pike populations. In fact numbers of W,B & P have improved on many of the lakes stocked with Muskies in the 80’s.

I’m wondering about my fellow fishermen and what they think of expanding Musky fishing opportunities and if you will help support it or if you would fight against it. The DNR has strict guidelines on what type of lakes are good for Muskies and what aren’t so the numbers of lakes are somewhat limited.

    Thoughts?

Plenty of water in Gull, and the Brainerd area needs another muskie lake too. Let’s see the big walleye lakes in MN and see if they have muskies–(Lake of the Woods, Mille Lacs, Cass, Leech, Winnie, Vermilion) they all have muskies and walleyes also!!

Yep, the only muskie lake I know of that has no other fish is French down in Faribault………..Don’t you know the muskies ate everything in that lake????? Atleast that is what the locals down there blame it on……

Of course, pulling out baskets and baskets of crappies day after day didn’t have ANY effect whatsoever on the fish population in French, did it???? NOPE, the muskies at them all!!!

Nope, and keeping all those 10 to 12 inch walleyes sure didn’t hurt the population, did it??? NOPE the muskies at them all too!!!!

I sure am glad that they are going to allow spearing on French lake for all those pike in the system!!!!!! Dang, there are THOUSANDS of pike in there to spear, isn’t there????

Atleast now, the residents on the lake will have competition for spearing, as many lake residents down there now like to spear the muskies with pitchforks at the end of your dock!!!!!!!!

As you can tell, I have no opinion at all on French lake in Faribault………

    OH!
One last thing………….make sure that every muskie caught over 30″ gets put on the wall……….Why bother CPR’ng the muskies????? No, no reason to do that, is there?

It is true muskies are in Gull but in very very small numbers.

As Mr. Wellman has said recently French was opened to spearing. One of the reasons was that people didn’t get involved. A meeting is going to held in Brainerd concerning this issue. A hope everyone participates regardless of your stance.
