Auto A/C Question

My son has an ’02 Saturn. Last night, while we were cattin’ my daughter-in-law calls and says there is a large puddle of water on the drivers side floor. When we got to his house later we checked it out and you could get a wet foot just sitting in the drivers seat To me it sounds like there is a problem with the drain on the A/C compressor. Is there a hose or tube of some sort that can become blocked on it or does it indicate some other problem? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I’m not sure about the rear air or heat, but the water is clear. No anti-freeze, so I’m guessing that it’s not a leak. Sound right?

You will need to drop the glove box down and find the leak, it is a clog tube on the under side of plastic box that holds the heater core. You might beable to see it under the car.

There is a drain tube, that removes the water that forms from condensation. It is more than likely obstructed. Open the hood and check in the psgr side, right along the firewall. Sometimes the tube gets pinched, by heat shields. Otherwise, like stated, remove the glovebox and there should be a black plastic box/ duct, with a drain. Remove the hose and shove a paper clip or something in the box through the hole, this should free it up.

wait a minute, you said drivers side ? I’m not sure on Toyota, but most vehicles have this on the psgr side. Did the psgr side get soaked too ?

Usually the a/c drain is on the rh (passenger) side. Was it raining out that day or night? We have had a few Fords that the butyl seal in the windshield will dry out or crack. When they do that you will get quite a bit of water inside. If you want to test for that just run a garden hose over the w/shield (or sun roof if equiped) to see if you have an external water leak.
