I saw 4 different waverunners get pulled over yesterday over here in the Milwaukee area on a little local lake . Talk about being CLUELESS to the boating rules!
July 5, 2006 at 6:44 pm #458270No wake during river fest my
Never seen a sheriff boat on the water either, what a crock!
Then LaCrosse spends money to look at making new rules for the river, again I say, what a crock.July 5, 2006 at 6:47 pm #458272Saw a pontoon full of people plow right on over a gravel bar here on the river. I saw the driver look down at the throttle controls trying to find out why the boat came to a screeching hault…..
The same day, I saw a guy put his boat in by himself and then proceeded to drive his boat for a 15 minute “test spin” while his truck and trailer sat in a single ramp blocking traffic at 2:00pm on Sunday afternoon.

July 5, 2006 at 8:01 pm #458291Mike,
I’m leaving for a 5 day fishing extravaganza next Wednesday. I actually did get a line wet. My buddy has a place on Lake WI and managed a few bass from the pier.July 5, 2006 at 8:25 pm #458300waiting to come out off the water in Prescott and of course there was a line of people trying to put in so I drop my partner off to go get the truck and get in line. as Im doing the hoke pokey waiting game driving in circles down backes one MORON took him 5 time to even hit the friggin water with his tuna boat and then as he is putting all his crap in the boat he realizes he forgot the stupid plug so he finally pulls the boat out and gets the plug in and backs it back down resuming putting all his crap in. meanwhile in the next stall over another doorknobb backs his tuna boat down and it only took him twice to hit the water. now you gotta picture this in your head for a minute. you know how when you back in the water you tap the breaks to slide the boat off the trailer. this dork backs in and hits the breaks, nothing happens. backs in deeper hits the breaks, nothing happens. deeper, nothing. now the truck is in the water up to the bumper and the boat wont come off the trailer. so out he comes scratching his head. HHMMM the strap is unhooked, safty chain is off. SO WHO DOES HE ASK FOR AN OPINION!!!!!!! the dork who couldnt get his trailer wet with a hose and forgot his plug when he did. now both Mutt AND Jeff are looking at dork #2’s boat wondering why it is stuck on the trailer. all this time TOTALLY shutting down the whole landing. At this point I motor in and mention he probably has his transom straps still hooked up. he gives me that Im a stupid moron look and out he goes. belive it or not both these dorks got their trucks parked at the same time Im suprized the people in line waiting didnt give them a round of applause. it was one of those had to be there’s but Ill never forget those two dimwits.
July 5, 2006 at 8:34 pm #458302Now your talking Steve. Just getting a line wet counts!!
Back to original post. I did see a drunk getting towed by his friends after dark. He was super loud and throwing the F-bomb across the lake as he was being towed. A real horses a$$.July 5, 2006 at 8:36 pm #458303Waller
It’s nice having a Private Launch to put in at. Don’t miss seeing that at all. Well kind of Humurous I guess. I actually did not see anything out of the ordinary this weekend.
July 5, 2006 at 8:52 pm #458307haha A guy put his brand new Hummer in the river at Bagley trying to launch his Jet Ski at the beach…Hilarious…that thing was stuck in the sand for hours in the river. He’s stil probably trying to shop vac sand out of the thing
July 5, 2006 at 9:28 pm #458316Sure was nice launching at Evert’s…..
And because Dean thinks I’m extra special, he gave me a free launch pass last night!
HEY DEAN YOU SCHMUCK! I JUST HEARD…EVERYONE GETS A FREE PASS THIS MONTH!
Damn, I have to start writing this stuff down!
July 6, 2006 at 1:47 am #458354I was on pool 2 early in the morning. I saw a boat load of guys in a fancy high buck cruiser chasing down a family of geese that were swimming by. I looked at them and shook my head no. A short time later I was getting whistles and calls from them. I never looked, didn’t really care to see a bunch of bare a$$’s staring at me.
July 6, 2006 at 2:14 am #458230Waller that was great I’m still laughing. Honestly I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary around Lacrosse.
July 6, 2006 at 3:00 am #458364My son was out cattin’ Monday eve in the Goose Island area. When they were moving he noticed a small orange glow to the side of them. They swung the “mil” powered spot light to that side only to see some moron running full tilt w/o any lights….spot or running!!!Good thing he had his cigarette lit!! He said they saw at least four boats running like that. You think that’s not an accident waiting to happen?!!! Maybe LaX county should make a few after dark runs.
July 6, 2006 at 3:34 am #458372I was on Tonka 3 days, 2 evenings and 1 morning. I saw ladies backing up the truck with the trailer taking up both launches just to get the trailer up striaght. then the hubby drives the big cruiser up on the trialer and tells her to pull ahead and she just gets out of the truck to look up at him in the boat like she don’t understand what he is saying. good thing that she had put the truck in park. then the next night, as me and my buddy both come to the landing in our boats, I noticed that there is a big cruiser that is pulling out and on the other side in the 2nd launch is a chevy truck that is slowly backing up the trailer under the boat while a bright person is standing hip deep in the water trying to hold the boat still. by the time that the boat was on the trailer, the tail pipe was gurgling under the water. then of course there was the little incident that I did. I kinda of hit the gas instead of the breaks while unloading the boat. well I got about 100 gallons of water in the boat and ended up dropping my brand new digital camera into a puddle and well my new camera is no longer new or even working. well that was $200 flushed down the toilet. but other than that, it was a great weekend for fishing.

July 6, 2006 at 12:54 pm #458416From Memorial Day to Labor Day I make it a point to stay off the river on week-ends and holidays. Not only is it frustrating but it can be down right dangerous.I threw a 3 day picnic/camp out on my 3 acre lawn for 26 relatives. lots of food games and fireworks. The river should be free of idiots by now so I’m taking my grandson Scotty fishing today.

Is the river ever free of Idiots?
July 6, 2006 at 4:26 pm #458475I was out fishing the edges of some pads about 15-20 off the edge and a boat with 4 older people go past inbetween me and the pads and then wave. Then about 100 yards down the shore there were 2 loons with 2 babies and they proceeded to go withing 10 feet of them and the loons were going nuts because they had the babies.
July 7, 2006 at 4:32 pm #458777Here’s mine…
Have not fished on Big Marine in Washington County in quite a few years, but headed there with a friend on July 3rd. I never knew there were two ramps on the lake and stumbled across one that was much nicer than I used before. Then…
There was a truck/boat in the prep area and they were not doing anything to get ready. Once I was ready to launch I moved around them and launched. The problem was that when I went to leave the lake I discovered I was in a Washington County Park without a park permit, and now had a ticket It turns out the truck/boat that were parked in the prep area blocked my view of the paybox and notice.
Now I don’t have a problem with paying a fine and I did park without paying. So I looked at the ticket to see how much my fine was. I said to look at the “attached fee schedule”. There was not a fee schedule attached. However there was a phone number that I could call and pay via credit card. When I called on 7/5 I found out that it would be at least 14 days until they had my ticket in their system and they could not tell me how much it was. I said; “I parked in a county park without paying for a day permit, how much is the fine for that?” Their response was; “We won’t know for at least 14 days”. The final kicker is that I have to pay the fine within 30 days of 7/3, but they can’t even tell me how much to pay… If I don’t pay (the amount that seems to be a mystery) by 8/2 the county will issue a warrant for me.
