    So;
    after a long weekend of camping with the family, low and behold a guy still gets looking like a lobster…….especially me with my white ………

    So, yesterday we stop at the Cannon Vally Fair and I’m BS’n with my Bro-in-law at the Nights of Columbus booth, getting some good food.

    Here is an older lady helping out the guys serving food. She sees I’m cooked and says she has a cure!!!!

    She told me to rub straight vinegar over my burn, using a cotton ball. She said the burn will go away, turn into a tan, and not peel. She says the pain will stop too. I’m thinking this lady was out in the sun too long herself…….But what the heck, I’ll give it a try!

    YEP!
    IT WORKS!!!!!!

    Took the edge off the burn and started turning my lobster colored skin to brown!!!! Truly amazed!!!!!!

    Now, it doesn’t protect you from damaging your skin via out in the sun too long, so use that sun block……..But it HELPS!!!!

    You will still peel. The damage is done. I get similar results from pure aloe and have been using it for years.

    A combo of rubbing alcohol,bleach and ammonia works well too. let it soak in then remove with 80 grit sand paper.

    Hey Derek, you curing sunburn or getting him ready to mount on the wall? Sounds like some taxidermy stuff there!

    No you won’t – I have been using the vinegar cure since I can remember. My mom would apply it as I was in sprint ready mode – it burns like crazy when you put it on, but it removes the sting and you won’t peel. You do have to catch it as soon as possible after you burn though – you can’t apply it the next day and expect it to work.

    A story to back it up – one time I burned my face – applied vinegar to everything but my forehead (not sure why – just missed it for some reason), and the only thing that peeled was my forehead. True story, and I’ve been trying to tell Buckshot since I met him that this is the way to go…. he however has an aversion to smelling like vinegar. Me?? I have an aversion to being miserable for a couple of days and looking like a molting snake for the next several.

    Gary, vinegar is an old remedy for sunburn around here too. It also helps by cleaning and sterlizing the area of any bacteria that could cause infection, Lots of those old home and farm remedys do work and are safe.

    Dan;
    You are right about that……..Now that you mention it.

    I remember Dad smashing his finger on the farm years back…..Bled like a stuck pig…….He put his finger in a cup of vinegar and it helped…….until he went to the doc….

    I don’t remember what kind my mom used but she used both kinds. I think the clear is distilled and the cider is more organic, i’d probably use the cider.
