My motor is a standard johnson 25 my transom is bending and twisted backwards the boat is rated for a 25hp and a motor up to 230lbs I weighed mine its only 120lbs it probably beant back a total of 2-3 inches and still going I’m going to take it in but wanna know if simaler problems exist the transoms arent built very strong which has me dumbfounded? It’s a lund? Right? let me know of simaler problems

I’m no expert, but how is your motor tilted when trailering. Do you use a transom saver??? If not tilted straight up, then lower unit weight torques the transom, kind of like a cheater bar. The farther out tilted, the more torque. Like I said, I’m no expert.

I’ve always had the motor tilted all the way down. I’ve done the same on every other boat I’ve had to. I like your idea of the transom saver but who would of thought I’d need one one a 120lb motor. I can see it on a 75hp and bigger. And its to late For the saver Damage is done I wish i had had one but then if i needed one my dealer should have told me about needing it? Am I wrong? I’m still confused I can grab the motor and bend it by hand which I’ve never been able to do on a boat? well thanks for the input.

No problems here, but I only have a 9.9 two stroke. I trailer with the motor down, no transom saver.

Yeah, after I thought about the transom saver thing after I hit send. That light of a motor shouldn’t cause any problems. Looks like they owe you either a new boat or repair. Certainly sounds like something is wrong.

Did you contact your Lund dealer and ask them about your problem? If so what did they say? How old is the boat?

I brought it to the dealer today for warrenty work you must bring it to the factory at your expense leave it there and pick it up when done. I’m not happy about that at all bad customer service on lunds part!!! I know a guy who had a crestliner with stickers flaking off he brought it to the dealer they transported it there and put all new decals anyways the boat is 2-3 months old I’ve decided to fix it myself thank god I Did machining and sheet metal fabriciation while in college It will be fabricated right you could put a 40hp on it when I’m done. They are just really cheaply put together in the rear. I also bought a transom saver I recomend to anyone with a newer wc-14-16. I’m sure different models of lunds are made 100% different I’m only reffereing to the wc14 and wc16 made in manitoba, canada. Higher end lunds arent made same way I dont want to ruffle feathers. Any more input would be great.

If I were you Benji, I would call Lund direct and right away. I don’t want to beleive this is the disposition of the problem that they would want. You should be able to google Lund Boat Manufactor and get a phone #. Call, don’t E-mail or write. Ask to talk to the President of the company if they don’t give you what you want…..Also, it wouldn’t hurt for Lund to know that this topic is being discussed ON IDA with all our thousands of members of fishermen. I would email them the link to this message, then call, and get the highest ranking person they will let you talk to. If you do not get the response you want (ie fixed 100% cost free) ask for their superier. If you ask politely, and do not get irate, they will pass you on. The higher you get, the better the chances of a decent response.

This could be a PR nighmare or a highlight for Lund.

I called lund today there want pics so I hope this works where were all happy! I also have to go back thru the dealer. They want to beef it up and fix it or I void the warrenty fixing it myself. I guess the dealer should have helped me a little more on it but you know how it goes! Just anyone with a wc-maodel use a transom saver it will save you heartache! I will keep you informed on how this works out!
