    Fabulous Keep ’em coming! so I am wondering, do you have different red winged black birds than we do in MN? Ours are all black with a little red on their wings.

    on the subject of brown colored red winged blackbirds… if you look closely while in the field… you will see the usual black ones with the red armbands consorting with brown ones with some russet arm bands….. the black are males… the brown…. females…. in most bird species the males are bold colored theoretically to attract the attention of predators and draw them away from the “moms”….. it works too… though it CAN be kinda tough on the males…

    Thanks, dah I should have figured that out as I know females are a different duller color.

    I also love the hayfield shot. I have been away from farming for quite a few years, but the sights and smells never leave the memory

    I thought that same thing.

    A guy could almost smell the picture.

    As I was looking at that hayfield picture it was like the smell of hay was filling the room.

    and I nailed a pair of Goldfinches out on a picknick… notice how the male eats first…. ahhhhhh nature…. what can you do?
    Im sure he is just going to give that morsel to his lady…. dont ya think?

    The clearity of your focusing is good Ken, The hawk is very clear and thats a hard shot to shoot and get it that clear, nice!
