I a month ago I hit a log on the ol miss. Bent the prop and ripped it a little. Brought it to a place in Bloomington called Better Parts off of 90th and 3rd Ave so. They do metal stamping as well as prop repair. Hole in the wall place. Talked to an older gentleman there and he said it would be $30 to fix it. Good price I thought. Had it to me within a week. Cool!! Tried it out last weekend for first time. Was slow and RPMs were up and bad mileage. Looked at prop. No cupping like it had before. So last Monday (June 5th) I took it back and said they didn’t cup it when they fixed it. I even bs’d with him about fishing. He said when do you need it? I said I’d like to have it by the end of the week? No problem he said. He wrote my name on a piece of paper which I think he wrote Jeff and Not Ken but I figured he’d remember me when I came back in for it and didn’t think anything of it) and stuck it in the prop. Went to today to pick it up. The lady behind the desk (And she was on the elderly side, too) asked me for my name. I told her it was Ken but I think he wrote Jeff on the piece of paper that he stuck in the prop. I told her that Bill would know which one it was. She said Bill is not here he is at his brother’s funeral and that he died from cancer. I said I was sorry to hear that. She then asked me if I had my repair slip. I said no, he didn’t give me one. She looked thru her book and neither name was to be found. She said why did you bring it in? To get repaired I said??? Thinking…why else would I bring it in?? I told her that is just repaired her but they took the cupping out of the prop. I lost speed and gas mileage from that. She then proceeded to tell me that cupping is extra and if I wanted cupping I should have asked for it. She then gave it to me. She said that only speed demons get cupping on their props. I told her that I wasn’t told that originally (I had a buddy of mine with the first time and called to confirm they did not, in fact, tell me that). She said there is a sign on the door that states that. And I should read the sign. I looked and it is there but is in the same size font as this post is. Small. I told her I never saw the sign when I was here the first time and why didn’t Bill tell me about it? Or give me the options? She got irate at this time and told me to shut up. A worker from the work area was there this whole time and he was looking for the prop. Can’t find it he said.
I’m sorry but being in the customer service business for many years you just don’t tell a customer to shut up. She said she had just had 2 strokes and is in a lot of pain and my bitching and moaning about some small thing like cupping in a prop is making it worse. I just kind of stood there like Is this woman going to kill me or what? I stopped talking. One of the shop workers that was listening to this told me again he couldn’t find my prop. Now I am starting to get a little steamed. I said did you look all over? He said yes. It’s not here. And they don’t send them out. I said what am I supposed to do now? I’m going fishing this weekend and need a prop? The woman again told me, Sir! I TOLD YOU TO SHUT UP!! YOU ARE MAKING ME VERY ANGRY AND YOUR COMPLAINING ABOUT SOMETHING AS TRIVIAL AS YOUR LOST PROP IS MAKING ME SICKER!!! So Here’s what I thought.. Then I politely told her…ma’am, as much as I sympathize with your problem, your problem is not my problem. My problem is I brought a prop into your place to get fixed and
not only is it not fixed but it’ lost!!! Either you find me my prop, and I don’t care at this point if it’s fixed or not, or I buy a new one and you pay for it. She said we can’t find it and I am not authorized to make that decision. With that she told me to leave and again reminded me how trivial my problem was compared to hers. As she was kicking me out (she was leaving for the day) I asked if this is the way she treats all of their customers? And that I was going to report them to the Better Business Bureau. She said go ahead and took off in her vehicle. I was steaming to say the least. Now I have to go buy a prop and hope that they will refund me the money? And what if they find my prop next week when the owner gets back? Do I tell them to keep it and they will need to pay me for the new one? I just can’t believe all this happened? The woman definitely had issues and they weren’t with me. I’m thinking they were in her head or she was on something that made her that way. Comes to mind the song “You had a Bad Day”.
Sorry so long. Had to vent. Feel better now but I still don’t have a prop. Will need to get one somehow.
