My father bought a brand new 16 foot alumacraft with a shoreland’r trailer last year. This set up is great for my father, not to big, and not to hard to get the boat on the trailer for his age.
Except for the trailer, it lacks metal. I showed him that where the crank handle bolts to the tongue, it was starting to kink and rust. He took it back to the dealer and showed them the problem. In 2 days they fixed the trailer with a brand new tongue. The kicker is that the shoreland’r dealer, not the boat dealer, told my father that they will not fix it again. They said it was caused by cranking the boat up on the trailer. Come on, why put the winch on the trailer at all. I guess if you can’t build a trailer that can winch up a small boat, maybe they need to go back to the drawing board. Now he has to modify the crank arm that is bolted to the tongue. Unbelievable
