I recently put a new minn kota maxium pro 80 trolling motor with universal sonar on my boat. I hooked the universal sonar up to my x-135. When i turn my sonar unit on i get a clicking noise from the transducer on the trolling motor. it is wired per the diagram and i bought the adapter cable for this unit but can’t figure it out. the clicking you can also feel with your finger on the bottom of the transducer. has anyone else had this problem.

any help would be greatly appreciated

    thanks

Are you sure the Clicking/Ticking is NOT the sonar itself that is how I know when my transducer is working I can HEAR it when not in the water.

The ticking is normal. That is how the transducer transmits sound waves. I love the Universal Sonar because of the “no wires”, but it seems the clicking is more noticable on the US trolling motors verses traditional pucks…

Carphunter if you pick up “static” that you cannot adjust out of the picture with your graph sensitivity adjustment, run a ground wire from one of your trolling motor batteries to your big motor battery. The Univeral Sonar transducer at times will pick up “surges” that will mess with your graph. The ground will make that go away.

I have the same issue with my Minnkota Pro 80. I am concerned that loud of a ticking noise could affect the fish. It must be resonating through the shaft or something.

I am going to adjust my ping speed, thanks for the idea…

I had a Lowrance tech suggest that you stop your chart as well when you pull your bowmount out of the water.

I went over to a buddys who has the exact same set up that I have. If you put your ear right by the unit you can hear it click, but if are more that three feet away from it you can’t hear it. I can still hear mine from fifty feet away. would the ground wire between the two batteries help me with this problem. I think that this would have to spook any fish around the boat. Any other imput is appreciated.

    thanks
